Megson Compliments Forest's Transfer Dealings!!!

PSR

Bolton boss Gary Megson has refused to rule out the sale of Danny Shittu, with Nottingham Forest said to be keen.

Shittu failed to establish himself in the first team last season, making just 12 appearances for the Wanderers.

With the summer arrival of Zat Knight, it looks increasingly likely that the Nigeria international will leave the Reebok, despite no offers currently on the table.

"There is quite a bit of interest in Danny and we'll see if it materialises into anything more concrete," Megson told The Bolton News.

"I'd not want to talk about individual clubs and certainly not Nottingham Forest who do their business correctly, but there hasn't been any firm offers just yet."

Nice one Gary - Thank You.

Very much in contrast to what John Ryan at Donny & Derek Shaw of PNE have been spouting about lately when they said, it was from our end that the media was getting its information.

Ryan was only interested in a bidding war and contradicted himself just about every time he opened his gob. I'm almost pleased we didn't give that twat any money.

Although Meggo failed as a manager here (and maybe as a player too although BC never really gave him a chance) he's always seemed to hold this club in high regard.

I dont like Megson.

But it is nice to see a manager complimenting us.

Megson always came across as higly principled and always seemed to have a lot of respect for ND and the clubs heritage.
He was appalled at what he found BFJ had left, and had to act the hard man to clean it up. Notice how he always wanted to do right by the supporters (dragging them in at half time at Yeovil to give the players a B*ll*king). Unfortunately this led to a break down with all the players, and hence although he did a fantastic job in trying to get rid of the cancerous elements in the team, he was unable to push forward and deliver where it really counted for most fans.
Don't forget the sportsmanship he showed to Forest when the L**cester game was replayed in getting the players to stand aside and let Paul Smith score.
So in summary I do believe he holds the team in high regard, despite of most fans view of him, so no I doubt it was a sarcastic comment.

Probably not, but there will be none meant in the statement by Megson. He has always been very nice about us.

It just seems an odd way of phrasing it. "I won't mention anyone who's interested however Forest are" is more or less how I read it. He has always had kind things to say about us but when potentially £2m is on the table for a fringe player I think he's just trying to drum up interest from other clubs.

I can see the headlines now for end of august when we play derby if we signed shittu.

shittu put shit in derby.....or super shittu put derby in shit...after seeing derby go bottom of the league.

I still maintain if he comes it will be closer to £1m than £2m. and contrary to what someone else said earlier about him interesting other Prem' clubs I cant see it.

He proved to be solid at Watford in the Championship but he's no top flight player, so coming to us he would be coming back down to his own level and give us more experience at the back that we crave for.

I can't see the NEP running with either of those...

Welcome to the Forum, agree 100% with your post, always nice to see a well thought out rational point of view.

Even if no other clubs are interested at the moment (which the quote would suggest otherwise) be them from any league Megson would love to get as many clubs looking at him as possible as there would be maybe not a bidding war but some clubs bidding higher than other. The comment I think is purely to stir up the interest and say to the clubs that are already look at him "You'd better get your bids in quik lads!".

I'm glad the old bullsh*t about Megson doing great work with the axe has reared up again. It's like the Peter Sutcliffe was a quality lorry driver stuff...

There is always one person at Forest who can do right in some fans' eyes; Megson was unfortunate to be the one during his time. :(

He had no points for speeding.

Don't take away a mans ability to drive just because he liked to bludgeon prostitutes to death.

Bernie Ecclestone said that to the press a few weeks ago, and caught very little shit for it. The news papers were very 'he's a bit old, and a little senile'.

Quality!

Well lets see if we get our man! I suspect that in his pay off he has to say that!

Didnt Megson rant about the history of our club and how he hated it?

Although he made some stinkers, he did sign Brecks, Tyson and Gran Holt.

But he signed some really, REALLY bad stinkers!

Yes and it would be so so depressing to even try and think of them all. No wonder we have a acquisitions panel!
