Ah yeah for us it's a lot, I was just suprised. I know before arsenal signed him he was considered to be someone who wasn't fulfilling his promise, but I'd still assumed he was a 50mil+ player
Sangare maybe cost more too, or at least in the same ballpark

Given Edu will effectively be employed by an umbrella organisation where do his wages get ‘allocated’ - and what effect on PSR ( if anything ) will this give?
Is it just a simple spread of his salary across each of the Marinakis group of clubs?
Or are we seeing an elegant way of circumventing PSR?

Maybe we can follow Chelsea's model of investing in hospitality and get more players like Lewis Hall and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall to sell at a profit too...

I'd expect that there are probably rules about what holding companies contribute towards PSR and that if we're getting services from the holding company these would have to be paid for... and that would probably count

I think the rules are very vague, Man City park most of their staff at other clubs. I think it only becomes an issue is if they are working exclusively for one club & paid by another but that is just from memory.

I will be surprised if Edu ends up on our payroll especially as most of the reports have emphasised he’s working across the clubs.

Reminds me a bit of the time Watford had a whole team on loan from Udinese with a few from Granada. I think we played them when SOD was here.

Frey was announcing the team and literally everyone was described as "on loan from Udinese"

not long after that they put the loan limits between two clubs because the Pozzos were taking the Pizzo a lot with the whole loaning out stuff. Especially since they'd bought players for Udinese simply to send them to Watford. (Though we did that too with a couple)

I think how City do it means their staff are employed by ‘City Football Group’ to work for all of their teams which means it can’t effect City’s finances for FFP, that company posts huge losses each year.

I’m sure if we tried the same thing we’d be told it goes against all the rules and would get a massive point deduction mind.

Some reports that Newcastle have targeted Ross Wilson to become their new sporting director. Apparently there's been some discussions already.

Presumably, a higher profile role than Chief Football Officer here?
It's no surprise then that he recently turned down the SD job at Huddersfield.

Now that does surprise me 🤔
Why? I don't how much input Wilson has on recruitment, but by all accounts your recruitment team has been doing wonders. So why wouldn't he be offered a big money job from a rich club?

Remember when Rangers fans were going ballistic to get Ross Wilson out of their club? He's hardly put a foot wrong here albeit without knowing just how much say he has in transfers, but he certainly has some say.

I can’t imagine Wilson getting much of a look in here to be honest. We’ll have someone already due through the door would be my guess.

I wondered whether Edu's arrival to the family of clubs has altered Wilson's role at all.

Backroom staff are always representative of their owners. If a club has crap owners the backroom staff will look crap and vice versa.

You never see clubs that have crap owners have really good backroom staff that carry the club.
