Meet the New-Look Recruitment Team (The same as the old team (nearly))

Can we now assume - given our rise through the league - that we will take precedence ( over Olympiakos specifically ) on investment in major signings?
Or is this already a thing?
Wonder how the Greek fans will react to this ( 3 club model - soon to be 4 - as opposed to getting the big man’s undivided attention ).

This could be massive for the club. I know he's going to be covering all of EM's portfolio but you can be sure focus will be on us.

Since he landed at Arsenal in 2019 they have improved from a 6-8 placed team to 2nd the last few seasons. The bloke brought in the likes of Rice, White, Gabriel, Raya, Martinelli and probably their best player over the past few seasons Odegaard. He's the master at selling a club to a player and whilst we aren't at Arsenal's level, we are very much an established top flight side now.

Yeah that's definitely how I see it.

It is another addition that would make us a more attractive proposition for players. That is an area we struggled for in the past few years. We won't know what his role really entails but I can guarantee it'll be talking to players & attracting them to come here.

Especially the players in Brazil.

It's not really a thing either way at the moment, as funding for both clubs seems mainly to be constrained via the relevant PSR/FFP type regulations rather than what the owner is prepared to spend.

I've done an initial skim of the Arsenal forums and I'd say the majority are saying they're glad he's leaving - they seem him as a "yes-man" who's just greenlit some of Arteta's failed signings and doesn't actually add much to the mix.... and they don't like Arteta much at all either.... honestly they're such an entitled bunch of cocks, doesn't matter which competition they're discussing, which opposition they're playing, anything really - Arsenal are just so above it all

Much like when a player leaves, you'll get a load of fans look for consolation in convincing themselves(and others) that said player was never good enough in the first place and therefore no loss. It's not just Arsenal, more a general football fan mindset.

The fact is, he took them to another level and has left them in a much better place. The stats and players speak for themselves no matter what Gunners fans try to tell themselves.

Sorry I'm not up to speed on developments - is this guy replacing Ross Wilson? Or an addition to the team?
From what I have read. EM is setting up a holding company to manage his group of clubs and there will be a group DoF - I assume that this would be Edu.
Apparently this is how Man City are structured and all administration costs for all of the clubs are paid for by the Holding company. - I have no idea, but would assume this somehow helps with PSR compliance

I would think we're already looking attractive to players in Brazil now we've taken an inexperienced Brazilian kid and made him into a national team superstar!

A couple of bad results and they've all turned. Wouldn't listen to a word any of them lot say. Worst fans in the PL for me.

I mean it's mostly bollocks, everyone knows he is a huge reason they have turned into the side they currently are

Money talks at the end of the day, Arsenal have also overpaid for the likes of Rice, Havertz, Jesus (in hindsight).

Odegard wasn't exactly a snip at 35m, with Partey and White in the 50m's.

Get one of these big moves wrong at a club like Forest and it could do serious damage.

Our recruitment has been spot on recently at bargain basement prices, and I wouldn't want to risk that by bringing in a flashy bloke from the big six and increasing the jeopardy with more expensive signings.

I don't think we need this type of appointment personally, no need to rock the boat just when things are coming together. Sometimes you have to let the growth happen organically rather than force it too much.

I'm not sure the appointment is as much for us as it is all of the clubs under Marinakis - it'll be about having a strategic overview of the whole setup rather than flashy big six bloke imo.

Anyhow, I'm happy - quite the coup.

This really is a coup and a sign of intent.

I can only assume he’s been given a huge contract and promise of an awful lot of control over all of the clubs.

They were all great signings apart from Partey & besides we are shopping in a different market.

It’s not about rocking the boat because nobody even knows his day to day operations. This is a great move that could allow us to attract a better quality of player. Edu’s strength is his people skills & persuasion - watch the Arsenal all or nothing documentary, he features a lot in it.

EM deserves huge credit for this kind of appointment & is a big statement of intent in itself.

It is easier to "persuade" a player with a 60k plus stadium funding your club and you are one of the financial powerhouses.

As I said money talks, getting a top signing when we are going to offer you 100k a week max is a different kettle of fish.

We've been forcing our growth since we got to the EPL, its very much EM's strategy and I don't see that changing.
He wants to try to turn us into one of the top clubs as fast as possible and these appointments are no surprise imho.

I don’t get your point, we are not going to be competing for players with Arsenal

And there is no evidence that’s our max limit, we already pay several players more than that.

I just don’t see how you can view this appointment as a negative
