I was entertained by one of the replies:

Paul McKenna's been at PNE since he was a kid, the club will not want to sell him but he may want to move for his last chance of getting a signing on fee.

IMO he is one of the best centre midfield players in this divison, and The Dwarf if he gets him will build a side to take Forest up next season.

Onions.

No, no, in all seriousness, he would be a great signing for us. The quote Gary has lifted is very encouraging as well!

whenever i've seen him play he's alway's impressed me, seem's to be constantly involved or wanting the ball and can dictate the tempo from the middle , i'll be very pleased if we can get him even if we only get 2-3 decent seasons from him as that could be enough to help us on to better thing's , i'm surprised some people have never heard of him .

They'll definitely be wanting to make some announcements before the season ticket renewal date, which is just shy of three weeks away.

 exactly. The week before general sale for STs will more than likely be the week. I wouldn't be surprised if the new kit(s) and sponsor are perhaps unveiled with some of our signings.

Fans favourites Gunter, Blackstock and Cohen to model the new kits?! That's where my money will be

I think he'll be a good signing. Experienced, proven at the top end of this division and a leader, everything our midfield isn't. Wouldn't be suprised if he was given the armband, either.

However, he sounds as though he's in the Sammy Clingan mould of midfielder. Lots of short passes and not too many runs forward. No doubt some will complain.

He's the classic player Forest fans won't appreciate on the whole, I reckon I will, though.

we already have one, james perch.

lets waste what looks close to a million on someone twice his age.

Not really, because McKenna actually is a midfielder and from reading what the PNE fans say about him, excels at keeping the ball, something which Perch struggles with.

I think some people need to get a hold on the idea that your whole team can't be teenage wonderkids.

The truth is there were plenty of times last season when we gifted the ball away, and even more frequently, we were naive and inexperienced. You want a passing side? You need a McKenna to win you the ball and be sensible. He knows this division so well, none of our other midfielders do.

Even Arsenal needed a Flamini to their Fabregas. Maybe we need a McKenna to our McGugan.
