whats he done wrong?
surely when you need a goal he would be better than McGoldrick .......

He seems out of favour with Billy atm. It defies logic though.

He has made a positve impact off the bench on more than one occassion this season, which is more than can be said for McGoldrick.

He has looked poor when on the pitch on recent weeks though, so doubt he would have made any difference on Saturday.

He looked about 3 stone fatter at Donny than earlier in the season. Not to mention he was utter crap. Maybe he should get himself in gear.

Maybe he needs to be playing to get sharp and match fit so when called upon he can perform better but when you don't have a reserve team its bloody difficult, same goes for Garner, Smith and Chambers etc. I know we have arranged 3 or 4 friendlies but its not enough, these guys need to be playing games.

Whenever he starts, he looks like he's only there for a stroll in the park and I'd imagine his air of arrogance is also apparent on the training pitch. I'm in no doubt that Billy is on a mission to shake this out of him, knowing full well that he's gifted. However, producing a moment of magic once in every ten games and prancing round like a show pony the rest of the time should never warrant anybody a concrete place in the team at the expense of players like Cohen who give 100% every moment they're on the pitch.

no doubting his talent at all but even in the pre-match warm up you can tell he think's he's charlie big bollox , maybe his attitude irritates billy ?

He's a 20 min impact player, great as a sub, hopefully he will turn into a full 90 minute man, but he's always been 'lazy' hopefully Billy can sort him.

I have to agree he is a show pony with a very lazy attitude and the time he has been at forest you would of thought by now he would have commanded a regular place, he has talent but talent isn't everything he is not good enough. I would also put McGolddick in that category

Bags of talent, but just doesn't show it enough. I'd play him above McGoldrick everytime

This just reminded me of the Dexter Blackstock interview I read in FourFourTwo the other day.

He said that players are weighed at every training session after a day off (I think they have Wednesday off) and if their body fat or weight has risen, they are fined and don't start on a Saturday.

Perhaps Lewis is having problems maintaining his weight...

This for me sums up mcgugan perfectly. So much potential, but he never appears to get involved. At times when hes on the field we look like we are playing with 10 men- hes completely annonymous.

If theres one thing mcgoldrick is not- its a show pony. His problem is, even as a lone striker- he plays too deep.
He's always going back to help the defence. He works his socks off, but just in the wrong place.

Well thats your opinion i view him as lazy and completely useless i have never rated him and from what i have witnessed this seaon backs up my thoughts on him. I'd rather have perch than him and thats saying somethink

Mcgugan undoubtedly has bags of talent but he knows this and thinks it will get him in the team week in week out with little effort. From the games i have seen him play in this season the ones he has started he plays very little part in them as he is swanning about trying to be clever all the time. He has been much better in sub appearances as his goal scoring record this season shows.

While he has more talent than Mcgoldrick i would prefer to see mcgoldrick start at the minute over mcgugan as he has a much better work ethic on the pitch imo.

Your entitled to your opinion- but I disagree:D

He's not useless at all, he just doesnt get any kind of run to settle into any kind of form. Hes not playing reserve games- just training.

Hes been far from useless, as his important goals have all proved. Also, hes not lazy- he runs non stop. He usually ends up defending though which isnt his job but hes not lazy at all.

I think your expecting too much, from somone who barely gets any game time. He plays what 5/10 minutes every 2/3 weeks?

Its impossible to accurately judge him yet until hes had a decent run in the side.

i think he's always gonna be back up for Majewski as attacking midfielder, but he can have an impact coming off the bench, as shown v doncaster(h) and preston, and cardiff. He is talented though and when he gets in the right positions his shooting packs a punch and more often than not hits the target. Also the best penalty taker at the club. Playing with McKenna/Moussi he would have license to get forward, but like BD says he lacks consistency and you need that week in week out.

What defies logic is when a fan knows better than the manager yet does not see the players at at all!! ;)

Well i`ve seen him come on with 20 mins on the clock and hit a sweet volley and grab us a point. Ipso facto m8

As yet Mr Mcgoldrick hasn`t had that kind of impact.

Although it was an isolated incident, McGoldrick changed the game against S****horpe as both goals were scored when he came on for Garner...

Both very good players, but as has been said they need massive adjustments to parts of their games. Once these are sorted, they'll be pushing for starts in my opinion.

Only trouble is, IF we go up, I fear McGoldrick would never develop into a good enough player for the Prem, whereas Lewis could.

I still mistifies me as to how people write McGoldrick off so quickly.

He's barely had a chance at a new club where he has a big price tag. And hes only 20.

McGoldrick didn't often play as an out and out striker, the position doesn't seem to suit him. He got a reasonable amount of goals in a shit Southampton team so he must have some talent. He hasn't had a run in our team or been played in his favoured position but I fear we're not really in a position to let him have one.

Mcgugan is not better than McGoldrick at this moment in time. I mean McGoldrick hasnt set the world on fire either but Mcgugan was absolute dog arse against Donny and as my brother said looked fat and lazy.

Just because someone came on as a sub a few times earlier in the season and scored does not merit them a place in the team later along the line.
