McGugan to Coventry?

Just recieved a text from a friend who has heard that Lewis McGugan may be on his way to Coventry! I don't know if this is realible info or not, but he does have contact with some of Lewis' friends.
 
Heard this at the weekend a swap for Aron Gunnarsson was mentioned?

Would the last player to leave please switch the lights out!
 
Lol. Who in their right mind would even joke about swapping Forest fir Cov.

Swap a promotion scramble for a relegation dogfight? Not likely.

I happen to know of a couple of Cov fans who started that rumour on a few messageboards last season. It was totally made up, of course. But all of a sudden it started getting taken seriously by some.

Coventry City are barely even in the same league as us.

They have signed 6 more players than we have though! :p
 
Am I the only one that's feeling even more confident about next season, if we're offloading players like Tyson and McGugan? We have no need to sell these players, so if we do, it seems we have serious intentions about the quality we want to have in our squad... I may be a bit naive though.. but I'm 100% certain that the people running Forest are not even considering selling squad players if they're not sure about getting replacements in...

Onwards and upwards! ;)
 
And also, as Forest fans, we have no right to be slagging off other clubs signings atm do we?
 
McGugan is another one of those players who is not an essential part of Forest and if they can get good money or a good player deal then I would be all for it.

I know a guy in Australia who knows a kangaroo who knows David Pleat's gold fish and apparently we're signing Robbie Savage on a 5 year deal.
 
My boss lives on the same street as McGugan's parents and he was told by his dad that he is defiantly going, but wouldn't say where. Coventry makes sense.

I'm always surprised about how often a would be swap deal or using a player as a makeweight in a deal is mentioned with transfers.

How often do you actually see it happen? I'm struggling to remember many examples.

It really happens because it puts the makeweight in too much of a position of strength, knowing if they don't sign they can scupper a transfer for someone else, so can bleed a bit more dollar. It also provides too much of a direct comparison for the fans to criticise.

I heard exactly the same from an armadilo who claimed to be a friend of ND's pet halibut. Must be true then!
 
This rumour was circling around January, wasn't it?

It's worth remembering that Coventry have changed manager since then and Aidy Boothroyd's footballing ideals aren't necessarily McGugan-friendly. They've just bought Carsley, who has been made captain and will play, and they've got Clingan, who is a similar player to McGugan. They've also got Gunnarson, Deegan and Doyle who can operate in there.

There's plenty of room for doubt here.
