If he really has gone, then this can be moved to ex-players and forgotten about and never be spoken of again. The fact that we are going to get any kind of tranfer money for him is amazing - He is a Joao Carvalho waste of money
Not really given it sounds like we’ve got our money back.

If anything Cooper’s problems really started when he dropped him and put Vlach in.

Anyway it’s all water under the bridge now. Somehow we’ve ended up with the golden glove as our number 1 and probably a few million in the bank net. Given Miguel also looks to be being moved on prematurely it’s about time we signed another decent keeper.

The fact that Cooper kept us out of the relegation zone with Turner as the best keeper at the club is astounding.

Good luck to him wherever he goes, but for us dead wood and then some.
What's even more astounding is that we somehow managed to sign an even shitter keeper (Vlachadimos) in the same window!

Love our recruitment team, but they didn't half have a mare that summer with the keepers.

Yeah in hindsight Ross Wilsons start here was pretty terrible. Thankfully we do seem to have got better, even Sangare seems to be starting to show himself worth our outlay finally. Obviously we do still make mistakes transfer wise but they tend to be the low priced punts rather than the marquee signings.

We signed some really good players that summer (Aina, Elanga, CHO, Dominguez, Murillo, hopefully Sangare can add himself to that list this season) but both of the keepers we signed were shockingly bad. Turner would have struggled in the Championship and I'm not sure if Vlachadimos was actually a human or a hologram. Montiel was also almost as bad as the keepers too.

Personally I think signing a back up keeper is quite tricky because, as a back up, you never actually play in a match, just sit on the bench.

So one has to think back to a time when the player was actually a regular. And he could possibly have turned to butter fingers since then.

I actually sort of feel a bit bad for him, to be honest. I don't feel bad we're getting rid but I feel bad for him.
  • Signs here from Arsenal, as he was their #2, to play.
  • Looks like a rabbit in the headlights every time he's asked to kick a football.
  • Loses his place to maybe the only keeper we've had that is worse than he is.
  • Goes to Palace for a season, plays 4 cup games and that's it.
  • Comes back, then you're f***ing him off to Lyon.
  • Lyon change owners and actively try to get out of the deal.
  • Lyon have to sign him but then promptly f*** him off to New England.
Talk about unwanted, lmao.

Hurry up Lyon so we can consign this thread to the Ex Players section never to be bumped again.
I am just waiting for an official statement or photo of him looking absolutely terrified with a Stockholm syndrome-like holding up of some other mug-clubs‘ shirt.

Can't be great for his confidence but I doubt he'll have any issues paying the mortgage so my sympathy can only go so far.

Really he should consider himself very fortunate to have ever even made it to this level. I'd bet there are hundreds of keepers out there better than him that for whatever reason just never made it.

Christ you know when your not wanted when you get sold as a favour, the circumstances change and a legal team are involved to stop you joining their team, to then be purchased under legal terms and then loaned straight out to New England.

I wonder where New England are sending him off to?
