Matt Thornhill and Wes Morgan

My mate at work used to go school with Matt Thornhill and he was telling me today that he was out in town with Thornhill saturday night after he met him in town about half 9 on saturday night. Now although i didnt say anything at the time i thought it was pretty unpfoffessional to go out and enjoy yourself after that kind of result.

I text my mate and he said that he spoke to Wes in town saturday night and he was steaming. Now im all for going out and enjoying there self i don't mind that, but to do it after we have just got thrashed is it just me that think thats unproffessional?

If that was me id be keeping a low profile and trying to put it right the next game not go out on the piss! My mate said Thornhill isnt happy because he isnt plying regularly but i wouldn't of expected that from Wes. Sorry about me rabbiting on :).

I read today on here that someone spotted them out in town and said exactly the same as you.

If you'd had a shit day at the office I'm sure you'd do the same?

You could argue he was drowning his sorrows. Either way, win or Lose, it's not professional to be getting wasted. it seems to be a regular thing with too many players at the club.

The point is they don't work in an office like me and you....

Spot on, sounds like they needed a drink after the afternoon they had.

Not surprised to hear this to be honest. It reminds me of certain squad members a few years ago namely Lester, Rogers, Taylor and Jonno who were all regularly doing exactly the same thing. Players are of course entitled to a social life but to be seen absolutely wasted after a shameful performance is a kick in the teeth for the fans. This is no doubt what Davies is refering to regarding certain players with off the field discipline problems.

Personally it doesn't bother me.

The fact is they aren't any more pleased with the result than we are, especially with Wes.

Its difficult to say where it does or doesnt happen.
If it happens at other clubs it doesnt make it right, and you have to look at how if it effects performances, clearly Lewis has been affected. Lester was renown for his off-field antics as was agogo. Football players should be able to enjoy themselves and as a professional athlete, you should not be getting wasted week in week out thats just basic.

Drinking is fine, drinking to excess is not. Professional footballers are not like the 70-90s era, They are more professional and need to begin looking after their bodys. What you put in is what you get out, and this season it hasn't been good enough.... Shape up or ship out is what our Billy is going to be saying to our jelly belly pish heads...

I cannot blame them what so ever for going out and relaxing, I hope they enjoyed a few beers or what ever they did in peace. Give them a chance to refresh themselves a little before work again and ensuring we are not relegated.

They are entitled to a private life which includes socialising. Lets not get into some form of Nanny state about the players.

I would dare bet the behaviour was far removed from the fools who went out on the razzle following the Oldham defeat

I'm sorry but saying they are "ratarsed" or "steaming" is a matter of opinion, because in likelihood, your mates do not know them well enough to judge.

I would have gone out if i was in their position. But i was playing poker instead.

As long as it is after the game and without another game for a whole week, and not the night before a game, I don't see the issue.

They should be allowed to have a social life and drown their sorrows in any way they wish.

Why should they have to stay at home?!

Am sure they would of loved the abuse that got hurled at them. I never said for one minute they should stay at home. I just siad id keep a low pfofile. By that i didnt mean going to bed at half 9 when they returned home.

Well ok i'm wrong i did say at home. But get some mates round and have a few drinks..by going town and drinking quite abit (If my mate is right) means there in the public eye...and after such a humiliating defeat it doesnt look to good. But as a poster said earlier in the thread you can see it as drowning your sorrows. But as much as i don't agree with doing it after such an abysmal performance and defeat i don't want to criticise Wes. He has been one of our stronger performers this season. Unlike Chambers :).

If they decide to go out and face any abuse that comes their way, surely that is their choice?

The team that won two European Cups were pissed the whole time and smoked twenty woodbines a day.
