Matt Mills (Again)

Having played in 45 matches last season at Donny - Mills is getting quite disgruntled at not getting his pick down at Reading where they stand 4th from the bottom of the league.

This season he has appeared 7 times for Reading, where he has been on the losing side 4 times with 1 draw and 2 wins to his credit.

Apparently he was involved in a training ground punch up with the club skipper back in September which led to a falling out with the manager (Brendan Rodgers) and it now appears Reading will listen to offers for someone to take him on loan in January until the end of the season with the option of a permanent deal next summer.

First club to show interest in Mills are the Sheep but I have to ask the question: Would BD still be interested? Afterall he still has a Centre Back on his shopping list and if he could get him until the end of the season - who knows.

I did say some while back in a previous post "**** him - he made is bed etc." but we still haven't done anything to recruit that other CB that our manager is still after.

Personally I still think we need a quality CB but whether Mills is capable enough, I don't know. Many would say "we have Perch back - BD believes Lynch is a CB (and not a FB) and of course we still have Chambers but none are of the quality we should be now setting our sights on.

We need another CB but Mills is not the answer anymore. We were concerned at the start of the year with our defensive line and only Gunter came in, now we have Shorey too and Wes and Wilson have been brilliant on the whole with a few slips. Chambers can come back into the team and has proved he can do a job in the middle at this level. Overall I think everyone would like to see an improvement but it isn't as necessary as we had thought pre-season. Having seen Mills at Reading I don't think he would improve on what we have or at the very least not by enough to warrant the wages he seemingly demands and how much Reading wil most likely want to recoup. From things Billy has said recently I'd guess a list of targets was drawn up before Mills became available again so would hope he's not on that list. I get a sneaky feeling we may go for Kilgallon but the wages will probably set us back unless there is a willingness to give him a big contract as the transfer fee will most likely be quite small with his contract expiring at the end of this season.

In short I don't want Mills as he isn't good enough.

He's good, he's young, he fits the 'mould' of centre back I think we need. If he's available then why not?

It's not as if he turned us down in the summer.

not arsed about him anymore, Wes, Wils and Chambo have more than proved they are up to the task this season.

If we are going to get anyone then it should be a Prem player. Would love to get Daws back here but he as important first team duties at Spurs at the minute.

We can land much, much bigger players now

No wonder my post count..

We've moved on a long way since our initital interest and Matt Mills made his choice for his own reasons at the time. Unless he comes to us at a discount with an olive branch up his how's your father then I doubt we're interested.

Look, PSR I am a big fan of necro posting, which keeps the forum uncluttered, but nevermind.

I would pick Chambers ahead of Mills to be honest, and although dissapointed we didnt get him at the time, I am glad we didnt now.

Also our back four would be too ginger with him in it too, and according to caly gingers smell of milk.

Hes still a quality player with great potential and Id still be happy to have him.

It seems he chose Reading over us because of delays with the f***ing Acquisition Panel, so hardly his fault really.

If we were given the opportunity to sign Shaun Barker again, however, Id happily tell him to f*** off. ;D

Well as far as I'm concerned, they did their job then (again)

Mills would not improve the team, and because of the position we now find ourselves in, we should be (and it sounds like we are) looking at far better players.

What i heard was that he chose Reading as they were offering a better basic package as Forest prefer to pay more via the bonus system based on appearances, cleans sheets, eins etc.

I thought Donny accepted a bid from Reading but ours never got accepted and there were rumours the deal was very similar but the chairman was being a knob because we apparently were very vocal about our approaches to turn the players head when really it was the media.

As far as i`m concerned, he dug himself a big hole by picking Reading over us, so he can sit in the bottom of it! :p

He didn't pick Reading over us for one simple reason - Our offer wasn't accepted by their Chairman and because it wasn't accepted he was never interviewed - he or his agent never spoke to anyone at the CG about a contract - terms or conditions etc.

Reading came in and offered what the Donny Chairman valued their player at, so it was left to Mills and his agent to find out what Reading was offering and once the terms were agreed he signed for them.

I can't understand how people here can hold a grudge against the guy when he didn't have a choice between them and us. Had Forest offered Donny's asking price I'm sure he would have come here for a interview to see what was on offer but it never happened.
