First Team Squad
I know a Forest fan who lives abroad and comes back every so often and always watches Forest given the chance

Thing about him is he has this superstition that whenever Forest go behind in a match that if he goes to the toilet he thinks Forest will equalize while he is there

First time I witnessed this was in League Cup Final 1992 when we played Man Utd and Mclair scored - not sure exactly when but it was early on in first half and as soon as we scored he just got up and went and never came back !!

So basically he spent most of first half and entire second half in Wembley toilets waiting for our fans to cheer (he came out at half time for a burger and then went straight back in)

I call that dedication to the cause !

Anybody beat that ?

Fans leaving early seems to get us a goal. But some people on here call them fans idiots.
 
Wow! I often go for a 'tactical piss' as I call it, but generally only when I actually need a slash! I try to wait for a fortuitous moment when I'm bound to miss something of significance. I rarely do.
 
He actually took a couple of punches from Man U fans while he was in the wembley toilets - they had a few in our end that day and I don't think they could figure out what he was hanging about in there for lol

He wasn't bothered though he had been drinking in The Torch non stop for 3 or 4 hours so he took the punches and just stayed in the toilets for the sake of the team

Yes, I remember the United fans. I was only 13 and was spat on by one of the odious ****s.

One of the glory chasing tossers worked in a builders merchant I used, never been one to accept defeat with a toss of the head and enjoy a bit of banter with some bastard from another side I planned to avoid the merchants for a while.

I received a phone call from a Forest fan who worked there, telling me I had just got to come in. Mouth almighty had been in the Forest end with a manure shirt on along with six or seven others from the Grantham area.

They got battered and did not even see the goal as they were forced from their seats and sought safety elsewhere. His nose was spread across his face and both eyes blacked.......I was really sympathetic as I burst out laughing.

My brother and I came from the toilets at half-time where it was absolute and utter bedlam, bodies lay bruised and bleeding everywhere. A Manure fan walked past us and my brother warned him of the carnage below...he ignored us and was felled before he reached the toilets entrance.
 
I can remember one group of 5 of them in a row and the guy on the end kept standing up turning round and singing etc

Then from nowhere this Forest fan ran down from about thirty rows back knocked him out cold and ran straight back up to his seat

They had paramedics giving the United fan oxygen and he was carried out on a stretcher with the other 4 following him and that was the end of their match - i can still remember them all trying to point out where the Forest fan had come from as they left escorted by the police

There were fights breaking out all over the place that day - I remember it was a crap match though - think Psycho was injured and we did nothing to worry United on the pitch at least

(Sedgred - now I have seen your post we might be talking about the same guy as this all happened before the match even started so these guys def missed the goal !!)

There was also a fight between two fans who fell and started rolling down the gangway both still managing to throw punches at each other whilst they were rolling down - never seen that before or since

You are right it was bedlam that day - everywhere you looked something was kicking off

We had United fans trying to actually get onto our bus to fight us as we waited to leave the car park at the end - always been grateful for the fact we had about 10 ex miners from Cotgrave with us that day - the rest of us just stood up behind them and watched them deal with it on our behalf lol
 
I just remember being mostly terrified... it was rather early in my football-going career.
 
Does trying to drink as many pints as time allows in The Globe count as a pre match superstition?
 
One of the reasons for the ferocity of the Forest fans attack in the ground, was that the main Forest lads had been done over by overwhelming numbers earlier in the day, nursing bruised bodies and reputations, only to arrive in the ground and find various sections with large groups of Manure's in our end was a chance for some revenge and boy did they take it.
 
Have to have a red toothbrush

Always go through the left turnstyle, or furtherest left of the teo together - even if there is a massive que and nothing on thre other side!
 
I remember seeing them attack a mini bus full of Forest fans after game while stopped in traffic at a roundabout. They ended up having to a spot of off-roading to get away. Luckily they didn't spot our mini bus.
All the times I ever went to Wembley that was the only trouble I ever saw.
Nearly got battered by them after a game at Old Trafford too in the same era.

Loads of Spuds fans round us in the 91 FA Cup final as well.

Don't remember seeing too many Oldham fans about in their final though! lol

Supposedly a lot of tickets given to Forest in an official capacity ended up in the hands of touts, who just sold them to whoever.

Seem to recall Clough himself implicated in it, but forget how it ended up.

Was that the investigation that lead to "Prove it" from the odious Fred Reacher?

Hazy recall here, but did'nt some former employee at the ticket office face prosecution over it, flogged them in a pub in Clifton ??
 
yeah guy from the ticket office took the fall for it but was sugested that it was clough who was behind it
 
I've only made it to three Forest games in the last two seasons, 2 at home, 1 away. We've won all of them.

Clearly I'm a good luck charm.
 
There was one large section in our end that was entirely Man Utd - those tickets for sure must have been part of any deals by people from within the club as otherwise it was just too co-incidental

But added to that was the fact that the Man Utd fan base meant they were buying tickets any way they could knowing they were going to be in our end

I have nothing against that - I myself have ended up with away fans watching Forest at times but I would never disrespect the away fans by turning up in my Forest top and standing up and singing in the middle of them

And that is what was happening - to be honest a lot of them were doing it and getting away with it as most Forest fans were turning a blind eye

But I remember immediately after they scored there were problems kicking off everywhere you looked

On a similar subject can anybody remember when we played Celtic at home in the UEFA Cup in the 80's - evening match so cold that the game was almost called off because of a frozen pitch

For those of you on here too young to be there that was an unbelievable night

Celtic fans literally took over Nottingham that day. They set up base in the Market Square during the day and then marched en masse down to the ground. I seem to remember they brought about 13,000 fans to the game - they had half the Bridgford End (when it was terrace) and the entire lower tier of the Brian Clough Stand

Despite the fact it was freezing cold loads of them had no tops on and at least 3 or 4 climbed to the very top of the floodlight in their section of the Bridgford End

Getting tickets for this game was hard even for Forest fans - I can remember I was in the Trent End that night

One of the highlights of the night for me and something I will never forget is watching this old guy at least 60 years old with a Forest shirt and scarf actually climb to the top of one of the metal beams that held the Trent End roof up - it took him about 30 minutes but slowly but surely he got there and was perched about 40 feet above us all - everybody was applauding him and cheering him and thinking what an absolute nutcase and how can somebody that age do something that stupid

And then all of a sudden he threw down his Forest scarf took off his shirt and underneath had a Celtic shirt on - he had a huge smile on his face and everybody was applauding him and cheering him even louder for the cheek of it !

You have to give the Celtic fans credit they are truly awesome fans and this old guy summed up the lengths they would go to to support their team

That night remains one of my favourite nights ever as a Forest fan for so many reasons.

I wrote an article on LTLF about it, but can't find it...

every time ive not had my season ticket on me this season, on match day whether i be at the game or not we have lost...
