Aside from the usual guesses at what this statement might be, I was wondering what everyone might think about some of the revelations that came out tonight?

If we can take away the biases of the presenters (whatever these might be, because I'm honestly not sure any more!), I'm wondering if any opinions have been changed? Or not? Or even if any opinions have been made?
 
There weren't any revelations as far as I heard. They repeated numerous iterations of the crap being peddled, fielded numerous callers without any real purpose or salient point to make..

.. the only revelation was that Colin Fray expects the powers-that-be to break their silence before the Millwall game - which is LONG overdue and one criticism which I think is very fair.

Not a criticism of the host and panel, but unfortunately they are generally left with the role of turd polishers.
 
Ok, revelations too strong a word - maybe confirmations? Both negative and positive, like the 'internet rumors going around are unfounded' or however it was phrased, the fact that there is something happening (although we don't know what) and the confirmation of the amount of money that Forest seem to be losing each year?
 
Fray was very defensive of Doughty, I don't think I've ever heard him criticise him, but as previously discussed he can't really do anything else in his position.

I wonder why it's taken the powers that by at the CG so long to speak after the failures of the last window? Have they been thinking up the latest batch of BS excuses all this time?
 
He said 'he couldn't see it' and said similar about Internet-based rumours.

That's hardly a revelation, it's an exercise in showing common sense.
 
This statement from the board, while overdue, is hardly going to be groundbreaking.

It's going to simply reiterate their stance of not being held to ransom, we only want the best players etc. If this is the case, it's still not going to get a lot of fans on their side. It'll simply be a very late speech full of the crap supporters knew they were going to say anyway.

It's not going to make anyone sit down and think, or make people feel happier about the situation. In fact, I can only really see a bit more unrest.

I would love to be proved wrong, of course. But I suppose we will never know what the real truth may be.

Let's just get behind the 11 guys wearing red for once, because they are going to need our support more than ever for the first half of this season.
 
Kind of, but what does that make us all think? Now we know for sure, why haven't the board just come out and told us - just a quick word on the OS? Even subtly drop it in an interview piece? Why do we have to find out stuff through Colin Fray? As Kier said - why take so long to tell us - might be because they needed to find an appropriate scapegoat, or might just be that they have been finally forced into telling the truth?

To be honest, I've always fallen strictly on the side of Billy in all the disputes, but the fact that the club 'are releasing a statement' that we wont like makes me re-evaluate that position. Gives me an inking that maybe the fans were being played against the board in the hope of achieving the impossible. In the same token, it also makes me wonder why the club is in such an impossible situation given all the positive spin that regularly appears? In short, I think it leads me back to Daniel Taylor's piece and makes me think everyone involved does need their heads banging together - and also makes me think that although DT's piece was a blog, a personal opinion, that this opinion was more informed than some of his gave him credit for.
 
Winnits - I do wish you would read my posts properly before you post, particularly the ones where I admit I was wrong in the first place. Revelation was the wrong word, but it did confirm what we could only (albeit sensibly guess at!) until now with regards to the takeover. I never thought it was true, you never thought it was true - but now we know for sure its tosh! But we also know that there is some sort of discontent that caused this BS rumour to surface!
 
It's just the internet. Silence creates an information vacuum, and a connected network of windup merchants abhors a vacuum so invents spurious and outlandish crap to fill it, either for mischief, attention-seeking or to further their own agenda.

Even if a takeover were occurring I doubt Colin F would know much about it. Forest are a pretty closed shop to the media as well as the fans which might be why Mr Taylor cracked, in his position in both camps, and joined the merry-go-round without dealing in anything but rumour.

I read your posts very carefully before replying.

Winnits is always good at replying to threads and being kind to people. When I first came here, before I became cool, on-topic and sexy everyone ignored me and wee-weed on my sandwiches and kept telling me to knob off as I was according to them: 'a stupid twat.' Only Winnits encouraged me. He filled my fridge with odd dried meat and introduced me to Vanessa Feltz. He has canaries for crying out loud.
If it wasn't for him, I might be doing something sensible with my time online. The bastard canary fiddler.
 
I never belevied the take over stuff.

But if I were to weigh up what has been said about the in-fighting against the thought that all is ok, then I know what I would choose to beleive.

Things clearly aren't rosy, and I've heard enough things from enough people that I trust for me to beleive that. I dont think any of us know detailed specifics but it doesnt take much to put things together. Its just some people put things together and make a whole story out of it, which then gives the true parts far less credibilty.

Some are way too quick to beleive things, but some are equally quick to dismiss them.
 
Or maybe the different standing of the two clubs is reflected in the attitude of the fans? can only speak for my self, but i really wouldn't be happy if we ended up with the type of desperate mediocrity that particular county fan seems comfortable with :confused:

I hardly think that 'desperate mediocrity' describes County's current position; they have progressed just as much as we have over the past 18 months, in fact it could be argued they have done more than us taking into account the relative starting positions. I think County are building a fairly strong organisation on and off the field.

To more relevent points you say that we won't like this statement from the board; now I was eating lunch at the time but I don't recall that being said by CF.
 
I agree Alabama - County are doing well, but would you be happy if Forest were in the same position County were in? Different clubs, as you say different starting positions, different ambitions - hopefully!

If I were a County supporter I would be very happy; which is more than most Forest suupoters are.
 

They continue to exist because they run up enormous debts and then don't pay; normally the taxman. Then the courts give them are far easier ride (for some obscure reason) than any other commercial organisation and the then limp on until they are purchased by a far eastern consortium who need to launder loads of cash.

In a business sense the club is not badly run at all.

Your comments concerning Colin Frey are most unfair. As a member of the BBC he was counterbalancing the views of callers as ND was not present to put his own points.
 
The reason many of us are unhappy is simple.
1. We were almost 'there' last season and many of us saw that with a slight adjustment to our playing squad, we would be in with a very good chance this season.
2. Many of us suspect that something is going on at the club. None of us know the real facts about the transfer attempts regarding P and W but we feel that with a more concerted (and maybe professional) effort, could have snared them.
3. Most of us probably truthfully don't fully trust Billy and feel that there is friction between him and others at the club.

I personally don't want the club to spill the beans about everything that goes on. A simple statement to explain the transfer failures may help or not. Feasible speculation usually comes when it is clear that something is not quite right; I honestly think a takeover is a non-starter and as I've said before, if our fears about the ND/BD relationship are true, then it will be Billy walking, not Nigel.
Even with our present squad, bearing in mind that we have lost no significant strength from it, there is no reason why we shouldn't be able to impose ourselves on this division, unless of course we are thwarted by this pathetic sense of doom and gloom.
