MASSIVE week for Forest off the pitch

I feel the decision on where the 2018 bid goes this coming week will have a massive impact one way or the other on us and I don't think i'm going too far in saying it could shape the whole future on the club.

I know others feel differently but I hope that the bid is successful not really for the right to host the WorldCup in 2018 but for the growth of the club

I think it is vital for the future of Forest that England get the 2018 World Cup. All the indications that seem to be coming out are giving the impression that we won't get it. I hope they're wrong.

I'm pretty worried right now.

I agree that this is a massive decision for the club; hopefully we get it.

It would definitely make us a more attractive proposition for potential buyers...

Ive been sayimg this for ages but, IF England get the world cup, then i think Doughty will give a generous amount of money for the transfer kitty in January, if we fail in the bid, then i doubt we'll get as much.

I wonder if Doughty will be making any "donations" to the decision makers at Fifa

I'd rather he strengthened the club over the last 2 windows, rather than rely on an admittedly decent close to the loan window and then a world cup bid that is hanging in limbo, to help the club. That's not intending to start a discussion of the rights and wrongs of Doughty, I just fail to see how a club like ours is pretty much relying on a World Cup bid to ensure a successful future.

Because football these days is all about investment and I for one believe there would be plenty of people wanting to jump on the World Cup bandwagon

Also getting the world cup bid would pretty much pay for any new stadium doughty wants to build because the council etc would provide grants for it to be built due to the investment it brings to the area; doughty knows how much getting a new stadium puts on the price of forest if he ever decided to sell. Its a no lose situation for him really.

Hopefully those nice chaps in the tabloids have sent a discrete message to FIFA saying that if England don't get it the tabloids will declare war and bring FIFA to it's knees. I am sure they have a few nice juicy stories (real and enhanced) sitting in the strongroom.

Yeah I understand that. I didn't write it well, I meant that it just seems outrageous that our club, with a 'fan' as chairman has got to this point.

Ah well, I guess we'll all have a clearer picture come Dec 2nd

not really, I very much doubt that doughty has got to where he is now without choosing his investments carefully and Im sure that on more than one occasion he has waited to see if a company has secured a major contract ect before investing, with the world cup bid im sure it will make it easier to secure investment when needed the type of investment that maybe doughty in the modern age of football could not afford, and with this take us and secure us in the prommised land

I'd love to see Nottingham get it as a venue but it does look a bit dodgy at the moment with all the possible Spain/Qatar stitch ups going on.

Still, we'll find out come December 2nd.

FIFA have enough problems at the moment with the Swiss government now talking about investigating them and the threat of a rabid English tabloid press!

Nice day out in Milton Keynes vs a couple of weeks in Span ?

Hmmmmmmmmmmm

I like it - and it would be great to see the press actually doing something postive for the country for a change, rather than being obsessed with sabotaging all that's good.

I fully expect the press to destroy FIFA if we don't get it....I'd like to see and official protest from the FA aswell because if somewhere like Russia or Qatar get it instead of us it will be a farce.

If Portugal/Spain get it then I will give up on international football altogether.

Qatar are only bidding for 2022, which they won't get because China already have 2026. The USA will get 2022, because 2022 will not be able to be an Asian nation otherwise China won't be able to host 2026.

Spain will get 2018 id expect. :(
