Why? Maybe Pratley wants more than to go to an ambitiousless passionless black hole like Wigan.

I agree don't get Wigan, Under Bruce they were slowly creating a decent team with Palacios etc then Bruce goes. Then Wigan think its a good idea of breaking the squad up,pathetic really its just stepping stone fo join teams like Sunderland etc.

He will go to Wigan given the opportunity. Im pretty sure any footballer would. Without red tinted glasses, Forest is a sideways move from Swansea. Whatever you think of Wigan, they are a side who have been in the top flight for what will be their sixth season, can offer the player Premiership football and wages.

Thats it man, keep the faith:D

In all honesty, if wigan go in for him he'll go there. Swanseas ex manager, a couple of ex swansea players, more money and a stable premiership club.

As for the people moaning about wigan, it tickles me. People moan about the same teams dominating the prem- but when a little club like wigan get up and stay up-people moan that they shouldnt be there because of thier small crowds. Dearie me.

They are obviously doing something right as for the last 6 years theyve been a whole division above us, and are making much more money than us.
Well done to them.

They've stayed up with a team full of mercenaries from every corner of the globe (oh and Titus Bramble!!!!)

My problem with Wigan is that they are not a footballing town, hence the small crowds. When they were on the rise they managed to attract all the floating ManU/Arsenal/Liverpool types but once they settled down as a relegation battling side they soon left.

I guess if Pratley goes to Wigan, must surely mean Ben Watson would be available? Was he not shipped out on loan somewhere last season? Similar type of player to Pratley.

No wonder my post count..

I don't understand your logic. How is the fact that Wigan isn't a football team something that makes them less of a football club? I know Wigan fans, they love their team. That makes any town a football town in my eyes. Well except Milton keynes :hey:

Wigan were barely a reputable team 10 years ago and they worked their bellends off to get into the prem! If Bolton wanted pratley I bet you'd be pissing all over them. Let's just move on and let darrens career take his course. If he ****s it up he can come back here.

seeing a Wigan game live on sky is very depressing and there are plenty of teams in the football league who would pull out a packed house for most games if they was in the prem and certainly live on tele

Wigan are there because of a chairman who has put the funds in otherwise would be championship fodder at the best

Isn't that stating the obvious? Wigan made some good choices, bought some good players and rightly deserve to be where they are. They invested well and it paid off.

I think it was him, Jesús Seba and Isidro Díaz who got them to where they are now.

yes i agree. I know they are a fairly stable, lower half PL club now but I've never really considered them a 'big' club - they're sort of one of those 'new' teams (much like Hull and the like), without much, if any history/tradition, who have somehow got into the PL and just about managed to stay there over the last years or so. It is predominantly a rugby league town and like the above poster says, seeing their home games on sky is a depressing experience with their half full, if that, stadium. Still they're in the PL, and we're not and can offer Pratley that. I just hope, if he is going there, that we don't spend any time on it, like Mills last summer

what depresses me further is how the composition of the premier league has changed over the years, and traditionally clubs that used to be there and i regard as 'big' and have some affinity/ sympathy with (Fanbases, history etc) the Norwich's, Sheffield Wednesday's, Leeds, Ipswich, us etc have been replaced by the likes of Wigan, Hull, fulham, bolton etc. Still you are where you deserve to be I guess.

... I'm sure the money pumped in by Whelan eased the workload no end! And I'm sure he has been quoted many times saying he wanted to build the club up in order to sell on when enough money gets waved his way (just as Madejski wanted to do with Reading)

Yet you look at ourselves when we were in the prem- and were hardly pulling in stellar crowds., same with now.

You can say its a team full of mercanries, but is that any different to 99% of players we've signed over the last 10 years? How many would stay here out of loyalty to the club...rather than move upwards to better things?

If you swap wigan with forest, your point is the same. We are where we are solely due to the chairmans money....and when we've been on sky and for most games this season we havent had a packed house.

I can only think of derby, coventry, leicester, newcastle and blackpool in the play offs.
And when we were in the prem...we very rarely sold out, unless man u came to town.

Its a touch hypocritical dont you think?

Surely thats what great about english football? These big teams are just as susceptible to sliding down the league? It would be boring if the prem was just the exact same teams year in year out.
