Marlon or Earnie

Just reading the BBC Rumours and thought the price tag of Harewood was quite interesting...

Wolves have beaten Nottingham Forest to the loan signing of Aston Villa striker Marlon Harewood, who will move to Molineux permanently at the end of the season in a £2.5m deal. (Daily Mirror)

Who would you have signed if it was between Earnie or Harewood if we had the freedom to do so?

Thoughts...

Maybe Wolves will want Earnie to partner him next year.
I reckon Earnie has a relegation clause in his contract.

Hi Neil, I am Wormo.

Earnshaw has a relegation clause in his contract and McCarthy wants him anyway so..

also I think John Parkin would be a wiser purchase as he is me.

When discussing a topic such as this, there are a number of private costs within the deal, wages, signing on fees etc, I do know that Marlon Harewood is a fabulous wage at Villa, maybe Wolves are able to get closer to that, no one at Forest comes a close second to it.

Some pants here but Earnie. Any day, any week of the year, he is the top draw. Marlon was at best alright, Earnie is the stuff leg ends are made out of. When he wants too, he scores. Its not luck.

Earnshaw is a Forest player, Harewood isn't.

Therefore, Earnshaw everytime. ;D

Marlon may have been a useful loan addition but all this talk of him being a perfect strike partner for Earnie, Joe or Nathan is absurd. Too many people look back at Marlon's Forest career with rose tinted glasses. He couldnt head the ball, frequently miscontrolled, lacked composure in front of goal and lost possesion while trying to hold the ball up.

But that was 6 years ago. He's had a couple of successful seasons in the Premiership and improved loads since then.

Earnshaw for me, but he must have the right service.

That was great Thank you.
I might make a semiology analysis of it later.
Or I might go to sleep, everyone's a winner.

Sounds more like Nathan Tyson to me. Harewood is a much better player than him.

The fact is he can be considered a target man. He is strong in the air, he is tall and he matches the criteria aswell as being a great goalscorer. Of course people look back on his forest career with good memories he and Johnson were the top 2 goalscorers in the division at the time both getting over 20 goals each how are you meant to look back on that negatively?

For one season.

Don't forget the seasons of uselessness that preceded that one year. Easy to look at that and be negative.

I think in our current team, Marlon would suit us much better.

Earnie is without doubt a top striker, though.

He had one great season with us (02/03), the year before that he got 11 in 16 starts, which is pretty good and in the season he left, he'd got 12 goals by November.

I don't remember much about the season before play off year but I do for obvious reasons remember alot about 03/04 and therefore I remember him as a good player. Also the year we sold him I am sure he had got 10 goals by christmas which consdering what we've had in terms of goalscorers the past few years is pretty decent.

Another thing is people rate Nathan Tyson very highly for one reason or another so Marlon Harewood must be good especially with his premiership expierence.
