I think we all need to pay real attention to what is being said here, Doughty is obviously annoyed at the level of criticism and cant blame him. I like everyone was gutted come deadline day that no new arrivals had come through the door but the outlay he has made for our club is incredible. if he decides to halve that next season who will make up that shortfall? Player sales? extra cost on season tickets? if we say we averaged 13000 season tickets this year we would have to up the price by £200 per ticket to cover that shortfall. How many of us fans would be happy to do that? not many im sure. its time that we all did what we do best and support our football club with pride and passion, whatever the season brings!!! Up the reds
 
Considering his age, experience and high position he seemed to lack the eloquence, calm and authority I would have expected from a Chief Exec. He comes over as a bit too insecure for my liking, particularly in the way he fielded some fairly tame questioning. A more aggressive reporter would have tied him up in knots. Sadly I think he is trying to paper over some very large cracks.
 
damn - cant get it to play on the mac and cant be arsed to boot up the pc because I am pretty sure I already know what he will be saying - does he say owt about the "make a whittering pratt of yourselfgate" saga?

It does sound like Dougthy is fed up, and who could blame him? If I put myself in his shoes for a moment... putting my own money into the club season after season with the plan of seeing my beloved club established in the Premier League - in itself a bloody thankless task given the high expectations at this club. Yet twice a season in the transfer window I receive stacks of angry emails - some abusive, some implying I have some alterior motive, some implying that I am stealing money from the club and there's talk of demonstrations to get me out of the club etc etc I'd probably begin to wonder why I was bothering.

And MA doesnt deny the consortium conspiracy :hmm:
 
Interesting how he also confirms they turned down bids for Tyson and Wilson. Good of him to admit how he shouldn't of said what he did about the 2 players, but said he was too honest. So maybe they both did want to play.
 
had a quick read of it and from that article and I admit i havent digested it properly as I need to get off to work, but comes across as behave yourselves and get off the backs of the chairman or he will walk away and leave you with no club to support. sort of a play by my rules or Im taking my ball home.

so doughty has had some fair criticism about our lack of transfer activity and we get a half hearted threat that funding might be removed if attitudes continue.

can see a long miserable run up to January at this rate

havent we all sank huge amounts of our personal cash into the club wanting to see just that?
 
Very clever Forest, turn it all around and make the fans question whether they can hold valid criticism of the way we operate without jeopardising the clubs future.
 
The problem with a small hard-core of Nottingham Forest supporters is their inability to recognise the nuances of real-life and the implications of running a football team as a business. Continually the fans criticise the Finance Director, Chief Executive, Chairman and the Transfer Acquisition Panel (Committee) without understanding the workings of the club or system. Now Mark Arthur has diligently explained the basic workings of the transfer system and the reason why the failure to sign the transfer targets, and the fans continue to complain or again attack him personally. Nigel Doughty and Mark Arthur are correct in their assumption that it's impossible to appease certain sections of fans, who will continue their personal crusade or attacks on the club. Yes it's part of football with supporters wanting the best from the club, but aren't we being unrealistic especially in the current climate ? Maybe the only way to satisfy those individuals in the end is for Nigel Doughty to leave the Club, and see what happens when the sh!t hits the fan. It is only his money that is keeping the club afloat and the players staying here.
 
Theres nothing unexpected in that interview, and marthur has a point that doughty gets a lot of unnessecary abuse. Alot of the criticism is justified, but at the same time theres too much personal abuse, and stupid conspiracy theories.

But, that does come accross as abit of a threat, which is not helped by the posts headline :D

It would've been nice if they'd used this opportunity to try and address why the fans are fed up and try and bring some unity to the fans and club. But it just typical press release stuff. Theres not even an attempt to address it, which is a shame and abit of a wasted opportunity.

Hopefully we'll all just get behind the team now.

Very poor communication and utter failure to resonate with the fans perspective. The fans are the club and I for one won't be held to ransom. I'd still follow Forest if we were non league. Forest will be part of my life long after MA is gone, wherever we are. So get that into yer think skull you pompous twit
 
It's a pretty ridgid and stiff interview. Nothing said that we didn't really know, apart from the amount of cash ND puts in each year. He never mentions what sort of bids we put in for the players though.

Also the interviewer looks like Dan Hawkins (apart from the ears) lol
 
OMG people are so right about us fans, 3 days ago we would have burnt all of them at the steak then MA comes out and says if we dont play nice ND is taking his ball and going home. And look how fast all of you get on your knees why dont you sign this to him might make him feel better

another were serious about promotion are you.once again it's nothing to do with the club it's the fans fault were to blame for everything every crap manger hired every decent player not signed.a season when we had more money from the league than any other and higher sponsorship level than any other yet still nothing.and can we stop the mantra about being the same squad as last year this is a different season with better teams and the teams that were here last season have all strengthened.what a load of bollocks
