Mark Arthur

I got pissed yesterday and missed all of this. MA what a leg end. **** the taffs, good to see Forest come out and have some balls. This is business.

Forest may have grown a pair and in some aspects people may think its a good thing, With Huw Jenkins Gethin Jenkins and Dave Jones being united over the war againest Forest it be harder to get the two now if they were playing hard ball before.

Hang on a sec...who gives a **** about those welsh teams? Their fans are animals and I for one couldn't give a **** what they think. They shouldn't even be in our league anyway.

We all know they should be playing Barry Town,TNS and Lianelli but they are here which is a bollock.

I dont think this means these players will not be joining. If you think about it, the club doesnt really have much say in whether these players leave. If these players really do want to join us then it doesnt matter whether the club want to sell or not....... like arthur basically stated 'either do business with us or lose your players to us for free next year like you have done in past few weeks, the choice is yours!'.

Admittedly, he could have done things more discreetly but this has forced pratleys and whittinghams hands now; Your desire to join us is out in the open now. Put in a transfer request and we will come and get you!

Is that how it panned out with Mckenna ? I can't remember now.

I thought it was a very positive interview, and good to hear it from somebody who will know whats going on here other than some bored 12 year olds making up rumours that people are signing tomorrow!

Well played Martha.

Couldn't give a **** about anyone involved in Cardiff bitching and crying. They lose the right to complain about anything when they try to avoid paying there bills.

They shouldn't be in the league... not because there Welsh, but because there cheats. Plain and simple.

Didn't Roy Keane make it public that he`s after chops ? pretty sure he did so whats the difference.

I for one am glad M A has put the balls in their courts, pretty fed up with this whitts and pratts crap, if they wont to come then its time for them to bloody well say so.

IF not then time to move on to the next targets, either way we will know sooner rather than later now.

I like this nasty side of forest, its about time we stood up to these greedy gits

This seems to be a case of the footballing world getting pissed off with cardiff for not playing the game. Everyone knows they're desperate for cash, and could get wound up this week if they don't get some quick, but are still refusing to sell any of their players. With the benefit of hindsight you can say that after cardiff rejected our first bid it was clear nothing could happen until he rejected a new contract, and he couldn't do that until he was offered one.

To be honest I think this is going to come down to the player putting in a transfer request. Cardiff are so far in the **** that 2 or 3m is not enough to make a real impact. They may decide that they will do better by hanging on to him for a year and losing any fee in the hope that they get promoted and their foreign investor puts some money in. If not they will go under and it then doesn't really matter how much they don't get for players.

He will not get the boot, at the very least he a trying to meet with Billys demands and please him. We are trying to force there hand becuase at the end of the day forest need to look elsewhere if this is not going to happen.

At the end of the day despite the response of Cardiff and Swansea, none of us know whats going on behind the scenes, I am sure hes acting in the best interest for the club.

If, as has been reported, both players want to come and it is all about them losing money if they slap in a transferb request ........ I guess Forest could be a little creative and make sure they don't lose out. On the other hand, let's face it ..... we know nothing. Just hope we do get them. We're not far away, as the 2nd half showing v Burnley shows. An injection of talent and competition could just be the difference. I expect us to hear something early this week.

I agree with Magicwoand, it could go one of two ways, they either both decide not to do any business with Forest, or it forces their hand and we get the players we want. However, I'm not a fan of the tactics and preferred it when we did business behind closed doors and names weren't disclosed by the club.

Also, it's just occured to me that at the Audience with Billy Davies event, it was made very clear by the fans to Billy that we would appreciate hearing more from the club. Since then we've had interviews from both Nigel Doughty and Mark Arthur discussing transfer and targets, amongst other things. I wonder if Billy passed the message on to the powers that be, or just a coincidence?

Im not sure if thats had any bearing on ND, as he usually does an interview just before the season and then one immidieately following it- so I dont think thats anything new.

But you could be right about arthur, as this seems very uncharacteristic of forest.

If anything it looks like we have done the impossible and unite Cardiff and Swansea if they do get together and report us!

To be fair to Cardiff, they are simply following the Portsmouth school of treating everyone and the taxpayer like hindrances to their game plan.

The fact that the FA have been totally inpet to dealing with the miss management of Portsmouth, there's very little reason to think Cardiff will de dealt justice is there

Further to the point, just what are these welsh animals doing in the English leagues?
Violent on and off the pitch and Incapable of running a football club.

They have no purpose being in England. Put them in admin now, dissolve them

This interview smacks of desperation, obviously the deals aren't going to plan or there would be no need for it.

It's stupid for a number of reasons, firstly if you are trying to do a deal with someone why piss them off. Surely an idiot knows that.

Secondly if the players did tell him they want to come to us it would have been in confidence. If he then goes and blabs in the press about it they are put in a very difficult position at their clubs. That won't endear them to us.

If we want to buy these players we have to accept that they belong to Cardiff and Swansea and meet the asking price if that isn't possible we move on. Underhand tactics will get us nowhere.

Also it was a bit worrying when was talking about 25 man squads he said when the transfer window closes and the squads are announced players will be available for loan to championship and other premiership clubs.

There is no loan window for Premiership clubs, if I know that, why dosn't he? Are we going to miss out on players you wouldn't expect to play at this level because he dosn't know what he is doing? Other top championship clubs will be sniffing around the likes of Craig Bellamy and Michael Owen whilst Athur is learning the rules.

Trust the club, let's not jump to conclusions straight away, I know as Forest fans we tend to prefer forming pitchfork-bearing mobs on rumour and hearsay rather than taking a considered view...

To be fair, he says 'between now and the end of August' teams will be finalising their squads.

I would imagine if Craig Bellamy wasn't going to be in Man City's 25 man squad, he'll know well before the 1st of September. It's not like they're going to sit there umming and aahing right up until the 5pm deadline as it wouldn't be in anyone's interest. City will want him to go to a PL club that can cover his wages and so will Bellamy.

I think the fact Arthur nor Forest have made comment on this so far today suggest it was all planned by the board, radio nottingham and maybe others.

It would not even surprise me if the clubs was to force the players into a transfer request lol who knows these days.

I guess this tactic by MA will ulitmately be judged on whether or not we sign Pratley and Whttingham, but I like the cocksure/ arrogant message it sends.

The club is successful, with a strong manager, a supportive board and that players want to sign for us. How refreshing!

At the end of the day, if nothing was said and they never come we would have been furious as fans. The worse that can happen is a slap on the wrist with a fine (highly unlikely) and we do not get them, but at least for once we are REALLY TRYING as a club.

Forest are in a great financial position and essentially that what counts at the present economic time and this must be an attraction to alot of players and the fact we have a good squad on the brink of promotion.

MA's problem is that he can never win. People complain if the club don't say anything and the same people are complaining when it does say something. Some people just like complaining.

Unlikely, I know.... But what happens if, as a result of Mark Arthur's interview, Cardiff and Swansea refuse to do business with Forest, so leave us without Pratley and Whittingham and the FA feel the need to punish Forest. The fans will still be furious, but with Arthur for making the comments.

Just because he made the comments, doesn't mean the club is trying any harder to make signings than previously.
