Don't know what the fuss is about Cardiff have avoided 6 winding up orders, so you have a go at us sort out your own problems 1st.

I get the feeling this is all above board however it is definitely an odd interview. Times are a changing and we need a bit of balls when it comes to transfers so seems to be signalling to both players that we mean business.

The welsh clubs of course will just see this as being held to ransom.

Confusing all round but at least we know for sure we are after them.
 
Very, very odd.

But no Cardiff fan can complain. Isn't this the 40,000th time they've survived admin barely-legally?
 
Remember Summer 2004 "We're serious about Promotion are you" MA ploy to get the fans excited ND knew nothing about the campaign.Just hope he hasn't jumped the gun this time.

He hasn't really jumped the gun this time either, he has not promised us anything, just given the situation on our two main targets.

Thought he talked a lot of sense in that interview. Only bit I would disagree is his assumption that we will pick up Pratley and Whittingham next summer for free. A lot can happen in a year to change their minds and if both players are available on frees then we're not going to be the only club interested! Hopefully it won't come to that though.
 
Odd.

Suggests to me that we've had offers accepted by the clubs and that we've spoken to the players or their representatives.

Because if we've spoken to them without permission then Forest could be in trouble for an illegal approach - everyone does it of course, but not everyone will actually give an interview admitting it.

Suggests there may be 2 new players at the City Ground soon.
 
I also think this is all a bit odd - not only McArthur saying something at all, but admitting to tapping up players? Was he drunk?
 
Arthur only admits to being "aware" that both players would be keen to join Forest, and agents or reps would have passed on that information.

This is all about the price, both Cardiff and Swansea know that if they do not sell to us before the end of August, then in January they will get 50% less offered, and if they do not accept then they will end up getting nothing.

A club in Cardiff's position cannot allow this to happen, their creditors will be livid if they refuse to sell a player for good money, and it would look terrible in the next court session if the judge is made aware they refused decent money for a player to help their cash position.

All in all its just a waiting game...... patience for another couple of weeks.
 
About time the club developed a nasty streak. We've had a hangover from the Brian Clough days of being the nice guys. We should be bullying clubs like everyone else does. With all due respect clubs like Wigan, Burnley and for ****s sake Blackpool should not be in a division above us.
 
Brilliant news if it comes off.I couldn't believe my ears when i heard him say it,i can see us getting in alot of trouble for it though.To be honest if the likes of Cohen and Camp were getting spoken about by other clubs we wouldn't be too happy either.
Anyway........Forest 3 - 1 Leeds Whittingham to score on his debut Happy days!!!!
 
I personally think the fact he is being so open and TBH pretty arrogant when he openly says "he's been told they both want to join" will come back to bite us in the arse.
I agree with people that say it feels like another "were serious about promotion" spiel moment again.
I really hope I'm wrong and something happens soon.
 
Very interesting comments from the normally very taciturn Mark Arthur.

It is extremely unlike him to be so open about transfer dealings; let us hope he is right, and that we can get both players, otherwise not only will he end up with a significant amount of egg on his face, he could also incur the wrath of the FA, if the transfers didn't happen and the welsh clubs wanted to kick up a stink and accuse him of tapping up the two players!
 
You're all being a bit daft here, obviously we have been talking to the players (or their agents), with the full knowledge of their clubs. There has been no 'illegal tapping up', we just haven't matched the selling price the clubs want. Arthur's comments are to make the clubs aware that Forest aren't going to offer anymore, but because the players want to come, we will get them, so accept what is on offer now.

And it's great isn't it. When Marthur doesn't say anything about transfers, he gets slagged off, and when comes out and let's the world know what's happening, he also get's slagged off. :confused:
 
You only have to to listen to the interview to realise the whole interview was pre-arranged. The fact they spoke "specifics" said alot to me. After all the cloak and dagger from the board it was very open and that was surely for good reason. I think Arthur knows alot more than he said and he clearly had permission to do so and gave radio nottingham free run.

To me he stated facts and the obvious points. Neither Whittingham or Pratley have commited themselves publicy so it was obvious they want to leave.

Cardiff fans get over yourself! It was only last week you was saying Whittingham was a "one season wonder" lol

I think they will both look good in red!

It comes across as arrogant to me.
 
It's really confusing to be honest, can understand why Swansea and Cardiff fans feel as they do. Arrogant and disrespectful.
 
i have never really liked Mark Arthur(it fact what i think of him is unprintable on a family forum) bur fair play to him for this interview
 
This was intended to turn the selling clubs against their respective players. Surely now Pratley and Whittingham are going to be on the end of some abuse, as they are clearly known to want to leave for a rival club. Very clever stuff from MA.

And what I meant was that he has probably been told this, by the players themselves (during discussions which their clubs are aware of).
 
Swansea have not really spent big over the last few years so I can't imagine their finances are in bad shape. They may well take a chance on Pratley and try and keep him for the season in thehope they can tie him down over the course of the season.

I think its obvious discussions with the players have took place which I am sure the clubs are aware of and for specific reasons are probably unwilling to let them go until replacement are in. With them both wanting to come and forest wanting them, then they clearly know there wage demands, bonus structure etc.

I have heared, again only on the grape vine, but both have had successful medicals.

If Cardiff or Swansea was upset by the comments made yesterday, I would of thought they would have personally made a statement by now.

Have you also considered that he probably hasn't been told this by the players themselves?.
I wouldn't be impressed if the shoe was on the other foot. Would you?.
 
Now we are acting like one of the "bigger" clubs in the division - I like it alot!

More of this attitude please.
