Mansfield to Barnsley by train?

Kieran NFFC

A. Trialist
Anybody have any good tips on how to get to Barnsley. I assumed you go from Mansfield to Chesterfield then Chesterfield to Barnsley, correct me if i am wrong.

Help much appreciated.

The line from Mansfield only goes to Nottingham and Worksop.

It will be
Mansfield-Nottingham- Sheffield or Leeds- Barnsley.

So i will go down to Notts then back up to Leeds, Sheff then up to Barnsley

Do you have any idea of the cost ?, I don't use the train very often

...and they wonder why people still insist on driving to places instead...

anyone on here going on train to barnsley then from nottm while we are at it? im thinking of getting train to sheff have a few pints there and then back on train and onto barnsley.

me and my 2 mates where thinking about going, we are all 16.

just thinking of a suitable and cheaper option of getting there. any of your ideas rich1977

tbh If your only 16 your best off getting the club coach there as its probably cheaper and less hassle

I think the train goes direct to Barnsley from Nottingham now. I went from Nottingham straight through to Meadowhall once, with the train ending up at Leeds - so I guess it calls there on the way. :dunno:

As for the Mansfield conundrum. Get the train to Worksop, then to Sheffield, then finally up to Barnsley.

Not wanting to be harsh or anything, but if you're not able to find that out for yourself then it's probably not a good idea for you to travel to Barnsley.

i am able to find it out, i am just asking if anybody knows any better routes to get down there eg. Stagecoach etc.

Strewth the lad's only asking question. No need for that.

Just get the bus to Nottingham, walk to the City Ground and then hop on the official coach. I reckon the coach will cost you about £11 to go there & back from the City Ground. (Details should be on the official site on Saturday.)

I don't think I'll be at this game, but I'd recommend the option of getting to Sheffield for a few pints before and after.

i am new to away games and i was wondering if anyone had a link for forest away travel?

also as me and my friends are 16 would this mean we would be aloud to travel?

thanks.

Chesterfield to Sheffield then Sheffield to Barnsley. Not sure if there is a direct one from Chesterfield though. Cheaper on the train than the coach as well and you havent got all the going from mansfield to notts first. My brother would be the best to ask as he has done it before. We are both going to be doing it this season as well

I think any age can travel. Tbh you're a lot better off on the supporters coach which is about 10 pounds and takes you from City Ground to Barnsley and back again.

Mansfield - Worksop - Sheffield - Barnsley will be more expensive and a lot of rushing around.

Yes you are allowed to travel and at the bottom of this page there is information on all the arrangements for away travel

If you can arrange for someone to collect you people are often dropped off at motorway exits on the way back rather than going all the way back to the city ground

I am wanting to go to Barnsley but me and my mates are not any kind of members. I was doubting that we would be able to go as all the tickets would be gone before the General Sale.

Would i be able to get tickets or not :)

Thanks
