Magnus Okuonghae

Dagenham & Redbridge look set to lose star Magnus Okuonghae in the summer, skysports.com understands.

The Nigerian-born defender has shone for the Daggers this term - starting in 45 League Two games.

The tough-tackling centre-half has been instrumental for John Still's men, but his form has attracted interest form a number of clubs.

The Daggers had hoped that promotion would help them keep the likes of Okuonghae and their other prized assets.

But after missing out on the League Two play-offs, Okuonghae now look set to depart.

The 23-year-old is out of contract in the summer - which means he can join any club he wants, but because he is Under 24 then Dagenham would be entitled to compensation.

Now a string of Championship and League One clubs are ready to move for Okuonghae.

We're believed to be looking at defenders as our priority, or that is at least the feeling amongst us supporters. Don't know much about this guy, but he seems to have had a stormer this year, albeit in League Two.

Does appear that there is interest in him at our level though.

Worth a shot? I'm sure Billy would know.

I sat next to this guy at Rushden and Diamonds years ago when he was a Reserve/Youth player. I sat and chatted to his wife over a pork chop and met his baby. I bought a Rushden shirt to gate crash their bar at a pre-season friendly and the younger Rushden players were all there. It was one of my favourite ever football days. It's not a name you are likely to forget. Forest arrived like big time Charlies with their own trolley full of drinks and stuff. If you check back about ten thousand posts, I wrote a long review of the day.
After meeting him, I always used to buy him in Championship Manager. He was rubbish.

Okuonghae

We won't sign him - we never sign players with great chantable names. His would fit nicely in 'Volare' & therefore he'll join some other club :(

I know it is a just a game but....

I have him in my AFC Wimbledon team in the Blue square on Footy Man 09.

He is a strong centre back.

Don't think he'd cut it here.

Big lad , out of contract , his club's player of the year by an overwhelming margin , sign him up !!

We should also sign up Exodus Geohaghon , the giant 6 ft 6" kettering England C defender. With an exotic sounding central defence of Magnus Okuonghae & Exodus Geohaghon , we'll be unstoppable.

As Roger Johnson from Cardiff has shown , sometimes a defender from the lower leagues can certainly move up rather easily if you are good enough. Cardiff bought Johnson for 400k from Wycombe and now Cardiff have priced him at around 4-5 million.

It's a shame Barrington Belgrave doesn't play in the football league anymore :(
