Lynch is better than Shorey and Bertrand

how did he do today ? his name wasnt mentioned a great amount in the report on the OS although he was mentioned going forward and vital to a goal it seems.. but would be interested to know how he held up defensively, from someone who went, ideally not somebody with a bee in their bonnet ready to slag him off before he's kicked the ball.

Lynch isn't actually that bad of a player that most people make out to be. I think he will shock a few people

John McGovern remarked at half time yesterday that Forest looked "all at sea" at the back.

This did improve in the second half though. From the commentary it did seem that Lynch was spending a lot of time high up the pitch in attacking positions.

Whilst he may not be Franz Beckenbauer, he can put in a decent cross.

This, I actually think Lynch will turn out to be a decent centre half, alot of his attributes are suited to that position think Luke Chambers after a spell of Billy's coaching. The lads clearly being played out of position and being asked to do a job. Am I correct in thinking he was made captain of the reserves and it was Billy's decision to sign him? If so the management clearly see something in him that alot of people don't.

You're correct he is the reserves Captain. And plays centre back.

Also I read his squad number is a clue as to where he sees himself - 33, as in 3+3 equalling 6.

Do you think he sees himslef as a Steve Hodge type? Number 6 = centre mid in my mind , well thats what Cloughie taught me to believe!

Sometimes.

When I looked at the fairly sparse text commentary on the SS app at half time, I saw "Cross by Joel Lynch, resulting in ball out of play" three times :D

That's right.

I think people need to remember that not every player at the club is going to be a first team regular who immediately bursts onto the scene. Lynch is useful to come in and do a job and after learning his trade, could step up for us. He's never complained about not playing and as has been correctly pointed out, he has a great cross on him.

His pass to Chambers from the corner to get the second goal, well done (this pains me to say this about Lynch), but really well done!

Why should it pain you to say something positive about a Forest player? I guess it pained some of us at Preston yesterday to applaud Ando's goal? Strange.
Lynch isn't the most mobile of players but he's an honest trier. If we get Bertrand back, he'll be passable cover for both LB and CH.

Aaron Ramsey also wanted to play centre half, which is why he chose 24 as his number. That's why he left so quickly to go back to Arsenal, as Billy upset him by insisting that he had to play in midfield.

Mardy bstard.
Glad he went back now. ;-)

I see it as 3x3 and he see's himself as a Centre forward.

No, three divided by three - he's actually a goalkeeper.

Spoke to a lot of the players last night in town.

Got speaking to Lynch for quite a while, he said he loves being at Forest, doesn't want to play full back, he doesn't rate himself anywhere other than centre half and said he's just waiting for his chance to play there. I've always been quick to slag him off but he seemed a really decent bloke and bought me a drink which was good of him.

Wilson was out with all the players, was a reason given for him not playing yesterday?

I remember him playing centre back near the start of last season and he did well but somehow some people blamed him for some of the defeats. I think he is the new scapegoat now that perch has left

I'll repost this from the other thread - just as valid...

I understand that Kelvin wasn't in Forest's 16 yesterday owing to a "back injury".

In a total coincidence, the game before former-Forest-midfielder-now-Celtic-manager Neil Lennon f**ked off to Celtic mid-contract, he, too, magically had a "back injury" causing him to miss a game he'd otherwise be expected to play.

Funny old world, isn't it...
