i cant help but think, he is awful and in my opinion wouldn't look out of place in the blue square premier.

but before i start! full credit to him for carrying after a dismall performance and getting the winner yesterday, which made up for the poor performance!

besides all that, he is awful.
his in decision.
poor heading and mis timed tackles are awful!

the lack of communication that was blatently clear from him! or just simply his ignorance not to listen to lee camp. ( when he headed that ball straight to there defender when you could clearly tell camp told him to leave it to him )....

i hope he goes in the summer.

A little harsh that, yes he didn't have a great game but he has been pretty good up to now this season. No I wouldn't want him starting every week but he does provide adequate cover for the CBs when required.

saying blue square premier was probably a tad rash. league 1/2 standard is his area definatly.

i disagree about him putting in good performances though!
i went to sheffield united away and he played then, and all through the game he was the one weak link in the side.. it seems to be a constant thing, even when he had a decent run of games nearish the start of the season, if i remember correctly!

Not sure I agree with you. When Kelv came in for Chambo - for the Newcastle game I believe? - I was a bit shocked that Luke was dropped. I assumed it was to give us a height advantage at the back. Kelv had a blinder that day and displaced Chambo as first choice centre back.

Luke has hardly put a foot wrong this season and could have easily questioned why he was dropped etc, but when he's been called upon he's performed very well, scoring a couple of important goals in the process. In fact, I doubt we've conceded many goals when he's been a part of the back 5. Some weak link.

He'll probs not be good enough to go up with us should we make promotion, but he's young and will be a solid top championship player. His commitment is unquestionable and to just write him off like that is a bit of a piss take really.

I don't rate him either, I get nervous whenever he goes for a challenge, he just pumps long balls forward too, just something that really grinds my gears.

correct, and i cant argue with that..
but on another day his silly errors that i have seen could of cost 3points..

They haven't though. Like you say, everyone is entitled to an opinion and that's the beauty of forums like this.

I can't recall Chambo costing us so much as a goal this season though? Might well be wrong though?

He got outjumped by Aaron Maclean (sp?) at Peterborough, who is a midget. Aside from that though, you're right.

He was poor yesterday, but when he was dropped for Wils I thought it was harsh on him - although Wils has been awesome since pretty much.

I agree, everytime 'Goal Machine' Chambers got the ball on Saturday he either looked to play it back to Camp or hoof it forward aimlessly. Sitting in VC Corner, I have no idea what he was doing in the 2nd half which looked like some crazy backpass. The guy really is no good for the championship.

10 minutes or so before he scored I lost it at actually shouted that he's shit. Needless to say I then got some stick from the lads around!

If we get 2nd place by 1 or 2 points, I want to let Chambers know that I shouted he's shit, shake his hand & apologise. Could prove to be a massive 3 points come the end of the season.

he has a lot of heart, but he is way too heavy for his build, he needs to drop the fat.

When he played the gift backheel for Kuqi he clearly thought Camp was closer to it so he could save the corner. Bit of a moment of madness.

I seem to remember that everyone was slagging Wilson off all last season (while Chambers was playing fill-in right back) and then bemoaning the T&A committee's failure to find a replacement for him, so maybe Chambers will get better as well. But Wilson left a big hole yesterday, especially in the distribution from the back, amplified by McKenna going off, and defending alongside a part-time LB as well, so Chambers probably deserves more kudos than he's getting for taking up a difficult spot.

We should be encouraging LC not shouting "your shit". Like BD said yesterday after the match the players that have been on the fringe this season will have an important part to play this over the next couple of months.

Although he did make a couple of mistakes he won us the game, i welcome his presence from corners and free kicks in the box, makes himself a real nuisance and seems to get under the radar of defenders.

Players like chambo, goldrick and mcgugan will do the business.

For the moment, I'm happy to rejoice and celebrate Luke Chambers for without him we'd be worse off. :1st:

It's hard to encourage a player who is so obvioulsy out of their depth. No doubt he won us the game, but that doesn't change the fact that he was dire at the back.

At the end of the day he's a defender, and seems to spend more time playing us in to trouble than relieving any pressure.

In yesterday's game, yes. Prior to that I wouldn't say so when he was in the team.

It's very easy not to shout "You're shit" at our players. I wish more people in the crowd realised that.

is this the same player who came in after not playing for many weeks and won the game for us? Can't say any player in the squad deserves criticism this season.

Yeah exactly.

Chambo has been a scape goat for a lot of people and it's been completely undeserved. A guy who sits behind my Dad is constantly having a go apparently.

That little backpass was inexplicable, yes, but I wonder how many people would be complaining if it was Morgan or another fan favourite.

Coming in after a long period of not playing, he's bound to be rusty.
International class defenders make mistakes when they first return to their teams!
Whilst I would worry about him if we make the step up, for now he is a perfectly adequate back up to Wilson and Wes, doesn't moan about being on the bench and turned 1 point into 3 yesterday.

Nice one Chambo.

Was very poor yesterday defensively but generally is decent at centre back when he comes in. He is good cover for Wes and Wilson and is an excellent squad player at this level. He will need replacing if we go up, along with a lot of others, but we should cross that bridge when we come to it.

A lot of players were below par yesterday, not just Chambers.
