Was the Z650 a twin or 4 cylinder? Kawasaki seemed to have so many different models back then it was hard to keep up. The only Kawasaki i had was the Z1000J had it sprayed by a mate of mine in works Kawasaki colours before Kawasaki cottoned on and produced their own.The 2nd word is ‘off’
By the 80’s I had moved onto a Z650
I had a Gpz900r which is without doubt the worst bike I’ve ever owned. Bought it with 21,000 miles on the clock, don’t think it had ever been serviced. Rear wheel bearing collapsed on the way home from work one day. Aftermarket alarm left me stranded on the outskirts of Paris. Sebring race pipe set off car alarms everywhere I went and put me off loud pipes for life. Was the Z650 a twin or 4 cylinder? That was Doughty all over, tried to skimp on signings at key times only to spend much more in the long run panicking trying to put it right. Shorey and Huckerby were two other obvious examples.Don’t forget the 4-3 thriller at Oakwell in around 99-01 (somewhere amongst those years) when Robbie Blake and Jack Lester looked the business for us, a proper good partnership they forged, then we sent Blake back said we couldn’t afford the 500k Burnley wanted for him, only to sign David Johnson and Francis Benali 2 months later for around 3.5m.

Reactive not proactive.
I think it might have been a bit harder for us to get Huckerby given he was on loan from City and an established PL squad member as well as the transfer fee to get him in.That was Doughty all over, tried to skimp on signings at key times only to spend much more in the long run panicking trying to put it right. He went straight out on loan to Norwich so we could easily have brought him back had we wanted. He eventually joined them for £750k so even a straight buy wouldn't have been that difficult.I think it might have been a bit harder for us to get Huckerby given he was on loan from City and an established PL squad member as well as the transfer fee to get him in.
Though I think we should have realised that getting in a top attacker was worth the money in terms of benefit on the pitch which is what I mean when he should have spent money when we weren't too far off.
Gareth Taylor and Marlon King for about 1.5m combined probably wouldn't have been too far off what we'd have paid for Huckerby.
SnapNewcastle turning attentions to Nico Gonzales at City it seems. Although maybe they’ll want him and one more.
That'll cost Spurs another £120-150m, surely? They're shitting their pants after the last couple of seasons.Spurs in talks with city for savinho and marmoush. Wonder if this will speed things up from our end as they’ll want the money.
It's a shame we couldn't have gone for Marmoush but I expect he's on the thick end of £250k a week.Spurs in talks with city for savinho and marmoush. Wonder if this will speed things up from our end as they’ll want the money.
You’d think so minimum 60 each. Wonder if we’d be tempted to offer all money upfront to try and get a cheaper deal maybe ?That'll cost Spurs another £120-150m, surely? They're shitting their pants after the last couple of seasons.
Marmoush is a player I absolutely loved watching play for my local side.Savinho is a waste of money in my view. No better than what they have. Marmoush is interesting but he needs to up his output from last year at city.
Started the 80s with the above, my Dad didn't drive until he was quite old and had to keep up with him.
Yep. I think Solanke would be right up there now. It's a shame we couldn't have gone for Marmoush but I expect he's on the thick end of £250k a week.
Solanke will almost certainly be available now. I can and I can see us going for him.
If we're saying that some of our players were off it because of the off field stuff then we've got to afford some of their players the same pass because Spurs were just as much of a basket case.Yep. I think Solanke would be right up there now.
I rate the guy, proven at Bournemouth but obviously spurs is where good players go to die
Agree Notch, Solanke is the one who we could be waiting on, potentially with Bergvall at the same time too. It's a shame we couldn't have gone for Marmoush but I expect he's on the thick end of £250k a week.

Well, that would be very disappointingSolanke is the one who we could be waiting on
