Lucas Bergvall

Feels like whenever I've seen him play it's been after getting subbed on for the latter stages of a match. Can't remember seeing anything special but then again, Spurs innit!

Don't think he and Anderson are alike at all, two very different profiles of midfielder, Bergvall is definitely busy but more so going forward (more like Frattesi). Defensively he just isn't in the same universe as Elliot. But at 20 and a reasonable price i'd still be all for it.

We just need to reshape our entire midfield instead of looking to replace Elliot, unless we managed to get Marc Casado who i think fits that all action midfielder that Elliot has been for us.
 
1 goal and 4 assists in 2 seasons and 50 games.

Work in progress, showed glimpses in the past but not kicked on yet would be my guess. Still young but at around 40m, need to be fairly certain the trajectory is going to be upwards.

Stats on the whole are not a great measure of a 20 year old player. You very much have to go by the eye test and he ticks a lot of boxes for me.

He needs to be playing regularly and although we're talking about different positions I have much more confidence in Bergvall kicking on and becoming a good permanent fixture in the PL than I do with McAtee.

TBH, I think someone who is busier going forward is the profile we should be looking at. Elliot and Sangare were often both deep when we could've done with one of them to drive forwards. If Sangare is going to remain in the first XI, him and Bergvall could make a better pairing than him and Elliot did.

This was often an issue where Elliott would drop so deep to take the ball off the back 4 he was almost stood on Sangare's toes. Sangare can easily do that part himself, this was even more of an issue for me with a 2 man midfield as it was difficult to play through the lines with no midfield in front.

We need someone that is going to play another 15/20 yards further forward.

You have to remember that he's only 3 months older than Zach Abbott.

His physical frame is impressive and he seems to like a tackle. I could easily see him being an all-purpose box-to-box midfielder in a year or two.

Look at Sangare the other night in the World Cup. Thats the exact performance I want in a Forest shirt from him. He wasn't stopped from venturing forward, but, chose his timing depending on where the other midfielders were. Use Sangare as the 'water carrier/pivot, and let others worry about passing the ball.

Totally agree Donny. If he's allowed to get on with taking care of that part of the pitch himself then we could be much more effective at playing through the lines and transitionally.
 
I would be delighted about this as I do think he can go right to the very top but genuinely think it's difficult due to our relationship with his current club.

I'd also add that maybe if the likes of Brighton, Palace or Bournemouth domestically or a team like Dortmund overseas were interested then at £45m I could see that being done as he gets regular game time and European football too.

Think we are being linked as it sets a good start point for the asking price which in fairness is reasonable in today's market but we are unlikely to succeed (Although if anyone could get it done in those circumstances I'd say it was our owner).

I don't think the past issue will have any bearing as that we particularly down to Levy and he's gone now.
 
45m seems too rich, given what they paid for him and that he is seen as surplus to requirements. Unlike the Anderson negotiation, I would think that ask comes down, as opposed to increasing.

I don't think that's the situation - it's him that wants to leave to get more game time.

Hope you are right, spurs fans seem convinced that he is still persona non grata still but they also reckon that Marinakis held MGW captive and that MGW could have sued and was about to but chose not to.

If any Spuds fans are reading in btw you can't trigger a clause that says you have to pay £60m all in one go and then try and pay it over 5 years in fancy cheese vouchers.
