Luca Netz

Just a personal preference of mine, that I’d prefer to know a bit more about the lad and be able to have him understand exactly what I expect from him before throwing him straight into an important game like that, he’s only really been here 1 day.
Plus Ola has shown he’s equally good at LB as he is RB.
SD has shown no inclination to play Cunha, so it would be Abbott at RB, which is *fine* but we give up a lot by doing that, and he's only marginally more experienced in the PL than Netz. I do take your point however, and expect this, or Murillo at LB with Morato in LCB (which I hate)

I have made a pact to not see any highlight videos of the latest recruits and only judge them when/if they put on the red jersey.

Do we put him straight in vs Leeds?

Yes from me, next man up and all that, we bought him just for this type of scenario.

When is the last time we kept a clean sheet in the league with Morato starting?

Everton away last year I can remember, anything more recent?
Wolves this season and Brighton last. There's been a few cup games too.

Apparently Farke had him when he was managing borussia mönchengladbach so he might have an insight into any weaknesses.

Speaks better English than strummer, and has better hair. Looks like a good swap for the UK 😅
In truth, it would not be harder to have more hair than me, regardless of how bad or good it was.

There's a logical process there but truth is Dyche can't really win with some.
Throw the lad in straight away and succeed then it's ignored he was brave enough to do so.
Throw him on and fail then he was stupid to do so.
Don't put him in and fail then we would have won with him starting.
Don't start him and win then we'll ignore that and say it was an easy game to blood him.
Bring him on as a sub then if he's good enough as sub he's good enough to start and wheel through above options.

I don't know which I'd do! 😄

If I was manager I’d probably play Ola at LB and stick Cunha or Abbot on at RB - with poor owd Milenkovic having to baby sit that side again.
Pretty sure Ola played last 20-25 mins v Ferencvaros at LB an was lousy. Get the German in!

I'm disappointed in the lad already- what kind of name is Luca Netz? Was hoping for 'Luca Djed-Hotep Herlander Bustenhalter Netz'

I think we should try Awoniyi at left back. He'd give us an increased aerial presence and might nick a goal or two off of corners.
His positioning would be all over the place, he would be in the wrong place all the time and I don't think I have ever seen him tackle anyone ever.

If we wanted that, we could've just kept Zinchenko

Ive now got a vision of him losing his balance, stumbling and falling on top of Aaronsen and squashing the life out of him, unable to get up, still smiling of course.

He looked composed on the ball, able to make a sensible pass and evidently wasn't shy about making himself available to move things forward. Really good signs having been introduced in that scenario. With luck, he looks like an excellent acquisition.

I agree, too early to say if he will be effective in defence, however, if he isn't, the transfer decision makers need firing. At this stage in the campaign it was absolutely critical to get in a left back who can defend. There should have been no doubt about this. Hopefully Luca will excel in the role.

I get that he arrived late in the week and it would have been a bold move to start him, but this is a lad with over 100 games in the Bundesliga. Instead we played Zach Abbott out of position to accommodate Aina also being out of position. Watching this lad for 10 minutes at the end made a mockery of how we set up from the start. If Netz had been an aging free agent I would have put my house on him starting in the situation we found ourselves and those last few minutes were a painful indicator to SD that his conservativeness on throwing this lad in potentially cost us the game. If he were Cunha or Cuiabano I would get it, but not a lad with over two seasons worth of performances in the Bundesliga. His getting splinters on the bench tonight was a costly error that should have been avoided, even more so with Murillo missing.

He looked very much like Williams to me. I liked what I saw. You could see he played with less fear and more freedom than Abbott.

It was also clearly evident that the other players instantly felt more comfortable giving him the ball than they do with Zach..

Sign a back up left back and don’t play him when your first choice is suspended for one game.

Oh but he didn’t know “our way”. Bail out of tackles, pass it backwards or hoof it, play half the team out of position, keep good players on the bench, don’t react to being overrun, and make sure you don’t take a decent corner.

Since there's concerns over the defensive side of his game I don't see the harm in blooding him in on the wing where he can have freedom going forward while still supporting the full back, it's not like CHO is offering much. Give him some minutes on the wing infront of Williams and get him used to the PL
