Gladbach were the local football team when I was stationed at the ammunition depot. I never saw them play, but the CO was keen on football so we had a really good football team (consequently I played hockey and cricket) and they were always talking about the local German team. The ground is near HQ Rheindahlen, though I suppose it's not called that anymore. How things change. I looked up our old ammo depot on google maps (the old guardroom is still there), it's now a hiking and camping area. It was about 20 square miles and one of the depot boundaries was the German/Netherlands border.

I shall follow the career of Luca with interest, reviving old memories.

Had a decent career.

Sure did...

"He had a successful debut, assisting a goal in Forest's 3–2 defeat against Woking in the Football League Trophy in November 2005"

"Bastians was part of the successful Forest reserve side who won the Pontins Holiday League Championship title for the 2006–07 season, beating Rotherham 2–0 in the play-off final, Bastians scored a number of goals throughout the season to help his side lift the title."

Whilst the league we got him from smacks of this being Syrianos driven it has to be said that if Edu was any good we'd have spent 15 times as much on someone 10 years older who's biggest claim to fame is that they were once in a title winning squad abroad.
I think Edu may have had his wings clipped a bit, and told to let Syrianos drive the 'recruitment', whilst Edu creates the ideas behind the team (playing style and other ideas)

Without ever seeing him play, very happy with this signing.
Young, tall, cheap, experienced, and left footed!
Watching his highlights reel someone posted on here, looks a bit Savona like to me.

It's very cheap for a 22-year-old U21 international, so I guess we shouldn't expect too much?
His contract running out in the summer probably had something to do with it. Better to get something for him than let him walk.

Apparently we've included a sell on clause too.
