Nottingham Forest is pleased to confirm the signing of Luca Netz, who joins from Borussia Mönchengladbach on a four-and-a-half-year deal until the summer of 2030.

The 22-year-old, who came through the academy at Hertha Berlin, joined Gladbach in 2021 and has played 124 times for the Bundesliga side.

Predominantly a left-back, Netz also has the ability to impact the game going forward, registering 18 assists during his time at Gladbach.

The German made his Bundesliga debut for Hertha at the age of just 17 and has played for the national youth teams throughout his young career, featuring 17 times for Germany’s U21s.

Everyone at Nottingham Forest wishes Luca the very best for his time on Trentside.

On signing for the Reds, Netz said: "Nottingham Forest is a great club with a unique history. The chance to play for this club in the Premier League immediately excited me.

"I am ready for a new challenge and the next step in my career. I am extremely motivated to get started here and am incredibly excited about the first training sessions and matches at The City Ground in front of our fans."

Global Head of Football, Edu Gaspar, said: “A part of the model is to add talented young players to the squad that can grow with us. Despite his age, Luca has played well over 100 times at the highest level in Germany, so we are signing a player with a good blend of potential and experience.

“With the ability to play on the left side, Luca brings balance to our team and we are all looking forward to see him settle in Nottingham and contribute for the rest of the season and beyond.”

If History with Dyche is anything to go by then he'll stick with who he knows and shuffle Murillo across to LB.
Unless he shows something special in the couple of training sessions he has before Friday I suspect how we finished Saturday will be how the defence lines up against Leeds. Would be a massive call to throw him straight in at Elland Road given the circumstances.

He did. Converting into a decent left back, after leaving.
And he was a solid professional, including stints at Freiburg and VfL Bochum, a - perhaps rather odd - detour to China, before coming "home" to Rot-Weiss Essen, where he finished his career and then retied.

Aina played left back throughout 23/24 don't forget.
His very first appearance for Forest - the preseason friendly away to Eintracht Frankfurt (a game I attended) he played left back and looked absolutely solid, and I thought to myself then, "hang on, that's a bloody good player, that".
