I'll take on the Gary Davies role for this one, for the decade when yuppies and yachts and the pop video came into its own. In my opinion the music of the 80s, at least the first half of the decade, carried the peak of creativity, tapping into what had been great in the 50s, 60s and 70s, whilst still progressing at a pace. From the end of this decade things seemed to decline in my opinion, as the artists lost their individuality and became overly stagemanaged by the music studios and producers.
Here is one of my favourite songs from the 80s.
