ME Owd Duck on the Little Park

Now then,
What a breath of fresh air yesterday’s result was. What a joy it was reading the papers this morning. For once we can all enjoy Reading again.
I was walking up the Little Park yesterday morning, taking the whippets for a stroll. The sun shone and it was almost spring-like. The promise of summer lingered [...]

Brilliant.

Was Me Owd Duck nominated for any of the awards?

It certainly should have been.

Great stuff. Nice to see LTLF back in its propper form rather than just a message board, it was missed when it was gone.

I think anyone could nominate folk if they felt strongly enough :p

Hmm...

Interesting.

It was Alex who thought strongly of your writing, wasn't it? :)

Alex did something strange, yes. I think he was hoping to cash in on the general sympathy vote of my recent 'retirement' before realising I'd written naff all for ages!

I should write something, but aside from an essay insulting our fans for having such a collective of idiots amongst them, or the usual complaints about signings/communication from the board I really rather lack the muse for it.

I think I may be the only one who doesn't really like the "Owd Duck" articles.

I appreciate the manner it's meant in and the information and general reminiscing but it seems a bit like the "Robbo Robson" blog from the BBC.

I tend to drift away after the first couple of sentences, too - but it takes all sorts!

Each to their own, I suppose.

I think the humour in it is fantastic, much more subtle than something like Stress and Pie.

I just thought it would be funny to nominate Alan for a site he doesn't write for...

If I'd been thinking seriously I would probably have nominated MOD though - the voice of the 'character' is very strong, but there's some really good historical research in there too. It's like Roly Birkin meets Simon Schama!

It just reminds me of an old man rambling about better times, and seeming to go off on tangents, whilst sticking implicitly to the subject matter.

You learn something from it, and yet don't quite realise you are being taught.
