Peter Taylor deserves recognition, there is no doubt about that. Its a shame that Derby recognise it while Arthur squirms his way out of it.

However whoever wrote the bulk of the article should have researched a bit better. Its not a secret that Peter Taylor came from Nottingham and not the North East and Cloughie's dad worked in a sweet factory not a coal mine.

Me Owd has responded to your comments.
You are commenting on five words -'Poor North eastern Mining families'. That's actually about the culture they came from, rather than the specifics.
The other nine hundred and ninety five words are far more important.
The Arthur comment makes no sense. How is he responsible for the club's failure to recognise Taylor's contribution? You can also argue that Taylor's contribution was to the downfall of the club. He became a negative rather than a positive. He finished up as Derby's manager after all.
Adopting a stance in which you blame someone for everything that goes wrong at the club is just silly. We have spent an enormous amount this summer on players. It silences the anti-Doughty brigade for a few weeks, until we have a few poor results.
If Doughty isn't to blame then let's blame Arthur.
Why? He's doing his best for Forest and Di has met him and liked him. Frankly, I trust her judgment more than almost anyone else on the forum.
Except Rich or maybe Winnits or possibly Squibbit or perhaps Erik but definitely not Dan.

Its documented elsewhere that when asked about a tribute to Arthur he said the club would not be making any kind of tribute as Taylor"did the dirty" on Clough and Forest.

Some of the people that you list as people you trust are the ones that reported that fact.

Winnits said:
I'm not sure whether it was ever recorded.

Basically the question of honouring Taylor was raised (rightly) by a supporter, the Chief Executive (Mark Arthur) said (and I'm paraphrasing) that "It wouldn't be appropriate since he defected to our rivals" - something like that.

Alex might still have a recording of the forum - I seem to recall he had a dictaphone with him.

So :p

Hardly documented fact... I can't remember that at all!

Regardless of the fact that the club seems to ignore this great man. He will ALWAYS be a legend in the eyes of Forest fans.

RIP Peter Taylor, you'll never be forgotten.

I just quoted a source that the writer himself said he trusted as the justification I used for my comment "Its a shame that Derby recognise it while Arthur squirms his way out of it."

I don't know if its true or not, I just don't care much for someone I've never met branding me a doughty/arthur basher. Perhaps I shouldn't have dared to pick fault with the article in the first place. I now know my place.

If you can be bothered to trawl through the various threads on this subject made months ago, its fairly obvious I'm a great supporter of the club honouring Peter Taylor, I had the good fortune to meet the man several times as a lad and he was a lovely bloke as well as being, in my opinion, as repsonsible for our sucess in the 70s as Brian Clough.

It's true - I'm frankly disgusted at Alex's lack of memory :)
