Forest on Film #7: Geordie pitch invasion

Nottingham is being swamped by Geordies this weekend and while many are looking forward to a lively atmosphere, some Forest fans still hold a grudge against Newcastle. If you’ve ever wondered why such bitterness exists between the two clubs, this video from 1974 might explain a few things.
Forest were looking set to go into the [...]

I dont hold a grudge against Newcastle United for what happened that day but I due hold a grudge against the FA.

Our players were traumatised by what happened that day as several were knocked about by their invading fans. We lost the match. The FA rightly ordered a replay.

We thought it would be at the City Ground but it was played at Goodison. AET 0.0 Surely we would get our chance at the CG. No, it had to be played 3 days later at Goodison again. we lost.

My grudge is we never got a rematch at the CG. It was not only unfair on our team but also the fans. I was one of them. Three lots of travelling expenses. Therefor FA to blame.

and a very good Chapman goal disallowed if I recall correctly.....the FA didn't want a poxy Div2 club progressing, not big or glam enough. I was 13 years old, absolutely heartbroken and as far as I am concerned, Newcastle and their fantastic fans can still rot in hell.

p.s. I hate people who hold grudges

it was allan browns fault taking the team back out he probably thought with us being in front we would win it,we were winning 1-3 and lost 4-3 after the geordies attacked the forest players on the pitch.

If we'd have won this game Allan Brown would have kept his job longer.
Brian Clough would be manager of Leicester or Sunderland or Derby.
No European Cups, no League Cups, no League Championship.

Only Dave Serella was actually hit by a fan. The likes of Liam O' Kane sheltered with the Newcastle players and avoided any contact.
I have written to every Geordie that invaded the pitch that day and thanked them personally.

If anyone is interested in 2nd World War or European influenced, very factual, intense sophisticated, slow moving, gripping, reflective lufthansschwasee noir, you might find this interesting, the subliminal message is really that if one doesn't learn from ones mistakes, one is doomed to repeat them ...

apologies if anyone has seen this before
