[LTLF] Don’t question Panorama, question our footballing morality

The coming days could have a great effect upon Nottingham Forest, the club, the fans, the players and the legacy, with Nottingham and Forest being a fundamental part of the World Cup 2018 Bid that is being decided in the near future. Not only is decision day looming, but also this evening sees the airing of the BBC’s controversial Panorama programme, another even that could have a major effect on the future of this football club [...]

What is really disgusting about the whole Panorama expose is that FIFA are supposedly angry at the facts being made public rather than at the corrupt officials it exposed. Several of them have stated publicly that it could have affected our World Cup bid. Perhaps they could explain why? It's a pity that we have to be diplomatic with these scummy people at all. If it wasn't for the fact that both we and Nottingham would gain by our winning of the WC bid, I'd tell 'em to shove the World Cup where the sun don't shine. Perhaps countries who are fed up with the corruption could boycott the whole tournament and just leave it to Russian Gangsters, Somalian Pirates and Iranian Terrorists to contest the competition.

Cheers chaps, comments are much appreciated..

unfortunately RRRedun that's just how it is, they don't want anyone trying to lift the lid on their organization do they!?

Given the way that the whole thing seems to work, it would be more apt if those were the people contesting the world cup!

Excellent article, thanks. Couldn't agree more with you - some things are far more important than football.

Despite the potential advantages for Forest of a successful World Cup bid, I'm glad the BBC aired the programme and didn't cave in to pressure. If doing the right thing means losing the bid then then so be it. Fifa can take their dirty games elsewhere as far as I'm concerned!

If FIFA fail to deal with the corruption in their ranks I am all for a full boycott of the next World Cup, all he qualification matches and any one who sponsors them.
I actually don't want McDonalds, Coke or Nike and their f***ing corporate exclusivity shit anywhere near my football.

FIFA should be dismembered and replaced with something transparent, fit for purpose and not involving Sepp Blatter.

I missed this story back in September where FIFA employees had stolen personal data of England fans attending the world cup in 2006 and sold it to ticketing firms.

The real question is 'Why is the FIFA Executive Committee made up of people from countries where corruption is commonplace and have no footballing pedigree".

At present the voting members include Ivory Coast, Egypt, Cameroon and Nigeria from Africa, Thailand, Qatar, Japan and Korea from Asia, Guatemala, Paraguay, Trinidad and Tobago, USA and Brazil from the Americas along with Cyprus, Turkey, Belgium, Spain, France, England, Germany and Russia from Europe along with the mighty TAHITI.

These people are voting on which country is capable of hosting a World Cup and consequently which country is going to gain enormous revenue from the event.

I have no problem with the 'little people' being involved in running of the game but TAHITI, GUATEMALA (didn't they once go to war over a football match?),TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO, THAILAND AND QATAR - someone's having a laugh!
