Billy after QPR striker?

According to The People, Forest have apparently picked themselves up from Marlon Harewood shaped disappointment to target want-away QPR front man Dexter Blackstock.  The former Southampton striker is struggling to agree terms with the Hoops for a new contract which apparently has sparked us to pounce with a bid to loan him until the end [...]

Hope you don't mind my adding a thought or two here, I'm a Nottingham based QPR fan and more pertinantly a big Dexter Blackstock fan. Unforntunately our 'glamorous' owner isn't and it seems like Dex is out of the door.

I honestly think that whoever gets him next will see the best of him. He's had a mixed time with us, started off ok and played a big part in keeping us up when the money was tight, he was then hit really hard by the death of Ray Jones and it took him a long time to get going again. He started this season on fire and it was only when we started playing silly buggers before Christmas hat he fell away. we now play 451 and its not ideal for him to be charging all over the place harrying defenders. With half decent service he's a great target man, works his socks off and scores proper strikers goals. try you-tubing them, lots of headers when the boots are flying in.

I hope we keep him but right now he's out of favour. 2.2 mil is a fair price, but i can't remember when we last got good value for a player. I wouldn't be surprised if he left us for a lot less.

Good luck with the run in, don't give up, there's an awful lot of crap in this league, someone will slump...or go into administration.

Would be more than happy with Blackstock.

He is a good player no doubt about it and since he is available (or seems it) most definately worth looking into.

One thing I would question is the price tag of £2.2m how much did QPR buy him for?

£500k would be a bargin for a player of Blackstocks quality, really hope this is true :)

I think we paid about £300,000. He was very young then and Soton were having a fire sale!
I'd like to think we'd hold out for at least a million, but as much as i'm grateful for the financial rescue our current owners are unpredictable to say the least.

Looks like a great foil for Earnie, a traditional big man/little man partnership, that's what we want. Clearly though, the lad can play.

I like that he didn't celebrate against his old side, Southampton, in that VT.

Will we get him?

Could this be Earnies replacment?

But you do realise that Mark Arthur will offer him 50p a week and then be stunned when he gets told to eff off

Not a chance.

Billy Davies has spoken openly about needing someone to win the headers that Earnshaw can't.

That person is Blackstock.

A lot of headers there which would give us another option and make us more dangerous from set-peices.

I can't remember us scoring many headers this season.

No wonder my post count..

Wouldn't have thought so.

It would be a bit like replacing a slice of bread with a bit of jam.

Hahahaha :)

6' 1" and 12st.

Bigger than anything we currently have!

He's scored 11 league goals this season, which is also more than anyone in our squad has.

But Tyson weighs two stone less and can't head a ball to save his life.

and he jumps well to early and is usually on his way down when the ball reaches him.

Go on then - let's sign Blackstock. Could just keep us up if we could get him. To be honest, if we had to loan a player but were told that we had to sign him for even £3 million at the end of the season, it would be cheap if he kept us up. These signings quite honestly should have taken place before this season started!!!!!!!!

Lets sign him up. But where are these rumours actually coming from?

Thats why we should play Garner more than we do. He can win balls in the air. Alot more than Tys and Earnie can anway.
