Toddy was from Iceland.
Of course, silly me
Toddy was from Iceland.
Think I’ll stick with KettleIt’s not that hard!
The kj makes a sh sound, but with your tongue lower and/or further back than we would be used to, though I’m sure our Norwegian members here would explain it more authoritatively than I have!
Sounds more like a porn actor? If you translate literally, you are not far off, Stale Stensaas would be "Steel Rockyhill". Now that would be a name for a new signing.
Excellent! Now if you can just tell me your mother's maiden name, your first school, the long number off the front of your credit card and the 3 numbers on the back pleaseHis first pet and his mother's maiden name?
Mine's: Snowy Wells! my partner's is Fluffy Powers (much better than mine)
You know my mother's maiden name.....Excellent! Now if you can just tell me your mother's maiden name, your first school, the long number off the front of your credit card and the 3 numbers on the back please![]()

But Farmfoods aren't so fussy
Great story! That was really nice of him.I think I have told you my Kjetil Osvold story.
He was, for a Norwegian player, what you'd call a cultured midfielder. It was the late 1980s, so big hair. I think his interviews with Norwegian papers reflect Cloughie as how he was. "He told me to get a haircut", Osvold told the journalists.
I met him by accident when my father took me abroad to Kos in Greece. Osvold was on the same plane with his girlfriend or wife.
I said to my dad, who for some reason had picked Ipswich as his side, "That is Kjetil Osvold. He just signed for Nottingham Forest!".
My father, well, he drank a lot and used some diazepham and whatnot, and was not an ideal father. We were sat in the smoking section, I was almost choking. It was the year I turned 14.
"Go ask for his autograph", dad said, gave me a look, and dragged on his cigarette.
"Okay, you have a pen and paper? What should I say?".
I don't know if you had these in the NHS, but when you got a prescription, it was on blue paper. Dad pulled out one for Betnovate and for Sobril (the diazepham) and his pen. He always had a leather bag to his work, and used this for travel as well.
"Just ask him to write on the other side"
I went up to Osvold and politely asked if I could have his autograph.
"What is your name?", he said.
I replied and he wrote a nice message and wishes of good luck.
It would have been enough for me, really. Kos town is quite small. I loved football, and bought one to bring an end to boredom while dad drank the days away at the taverna.
I was kicking it about at the beach. Then someone came up to me and asked in Norwegian "Want to play a little? Go into the sea, and save some shots?".
It was Kjetil Osvold. That little act of kindness to a kid who could hardly hide his tears of happiness is one of my great memories. He did not have to. He could have just thought, meh, that annoying boy again.
