Loan Star

Friday is the day. So who is it going to be?

Dunno, but I bet he's the only man who would dare give you the raspberry!

Opens 7 days after the proper window closes, closes on the 4th Thursday in November (25th).

Is it Noone from Plymouth?

That way, if we sign No-one, I was still nearly right but for a hyphen :D

I dont see forest signing any loan players but if im honest, i dont mind if they dont. We have seen what this team can do and the way i see it is that they will strengthen the team in jan. They know where they mucked up last year and that was when the squad look tired after xmas so january is the time to strengthen and recruit fresh legs for me. I dont see forest making the same mistake again; this current set of players are god enough and fit enough if looked after by billy to get us up to january when signings will be made if forest are in contention.

I hope you're right Tricky Tree. I'm still disappointed with Doughty's efforts over the Summer, but perhaps naively I'm hoping his plan is to let the current squad take us into the Top 6 by Christmas and then pick up some bargains. We'll have to hope Pratley or Whittingham are sufficiently disillusioned with their current clubs that they'll still be keen on a move to Forest in January (more likely to be the case for Pratley). By the January window, Swansea may even let him go for £1mn for fear of him leaving on a free in the Summer. In the meantime, we also need to bulk up the squad with a couple of quality loan signings. It's a risky strategy but it might just come off if we keep this form going.

I have no connections what so ever.

But surely we should be in to loan a striker. Earnie has already picked up a few knocks, and Blackstock is the only other main striker that is fit. I am ruling out Dele. McGoldrick plays in a similar role to where Mcgugan has been playing. and that is it.
We could recall Garner, but has he even been playing?

I think our midfield is pretty solid, but a winger would be a nice addition as it would free up Cohen.

Not really sure if a defender would be worth it, we are pretty thin, but why bring in a young inexperienced CB if they are just adequate back up.

We should be okay hopefully.

Billy has intimated this.

where does it state when the loan window is? i've never been able to find it.

The loan window is open now, but the point of Friday is that a loan made on that day (or thereafter) then allows us to loan a player for a period up to the opening of the next Transfer Window.

Which in theory then allows us to make the deal permanent in January.

Of course, this is Forest, so we'll most likely end up with nobody, as on our previous form (the Chief Executive proclamation that the two welsh-based players were wanting to join and the Chairman's comment that he expected two new players in by mid-September) we don't seem to be able to get it done.

On Radio Nottingham last Saturday Billy did say that we would stick with the players we have 'until the internation break' and that would 'give us more time to get something sorted out'.

Having heard this I expect us to sign no-one until the week after next.

We need players in without a doubt because the lads look tired last night; just a couple of players on loan would make such a big difference.

I think Mark Arthur needs to work on getting Earnshaw and Wilson signed up to new contracts first. I can seriously see one of them going for free at the end of the season.

Is anybody able to cobble together a list of worthy Premier League players who didn't make the squad? Is this on another thread somewhere?

Virtually all PL players made their squads, Arsenal have 70 players registered. It's all to do with age and nationality.
