Load of b*llocks!?

Not a load of bollocks at all in my opinion.

In fact, apart from the merger part which will never happen (and clearly wasn't a serious suggestion anyway), I think the blokes got it spot on.

We were very much cash strapped after Platt left.

That's why we had to sell every decent player that came through the ranks.

Its got good and bad points in the article but the message it gives out is quite obvious. Live within your means or suffer the consequneces. For the record, the SWFC chairman posted a table of estimated wage bills per club. Forest were closer to the top that I would have expected , over £10m per season, twice what Barnsley's is. Within a few years football will implode as the fans decide enough is enough and turn on the players. They day someone can turn round and say to me footballer X deserves to be paid more than a nurse, a solider on the front line, fireman etc is the day my head self combusts. Its the idots in charge of the clubs that has cause the problems that football now faces. There will be a 'big team' from the premiership go into administration within two seasons (newcastles looking likely), You can perm one of about 10 clubs in the championship where this season is shit or bust and hanging on the borderlines of financial meltdown. Between them Charlton and SWFC owe £60m to the banks. Short of one or two clubs in the top two divisions, English footballs a mess.

It is entirely possible and even likely that three of these clubs, strapped for cash almost to the point of annihilation, will be relegated to “Division One” at the end of the season – Charlton, Nottingham Forest and Southampton. A fourth similarly disposed side – Norwich City – seem to have scampered clear.

Check your facts and look at the league table, you might want to be contoversial, but at least get your story right. :w**ker:

But it is this delusion which will do for Southampton FC, in the end, much as it has threatened to do for a long, long list of similarly deluded clubs – of which Leeds United, Coventry City, Cardiff City and Nottingham Forest are but four, all of whom have found the receivers either marching up the garden path or waiting by the gate. All of whom considered themselves Premier League clubs – in all but reality.

Could this possibly be sent to all our deluded fans!

Is there any way I can have a look at this table?

I don't think our wage bill is that high anyway. I remember when we played Brum and Billy was on about how thier wage bill is about 4/5 times the size of ours.

He's just being a cock for the sake of it there, as a journalist you really shouldn't be saying ...... Oh yes you will, Leeds. You will play them again and again and again until you get it into your thick Yorkshire heads that this is where you deserve to be. Thats just gonna infuriate and isolate readers.........

Whilst I agree that we all hate leeds scum.............Im a guy on a forum and not writing with national exposure.

Cant comment on our current finances as I dont have a clue how we stand, but I thought we were doing okay now????

what a tool though.

Didn't print my comment the twat. I wasn't even insulting - just pointed out that may be he might want to do some research before he goes in print next time.

I notice that he's cherry picked the comments that kind of agree with his point of view.

Rod Liddle is a notorious idiot, why dignify his article with this kind of reaction when he clearly isn't a football writer

Nope read it again, Forest are in the middle in the 8-10m bracket along with Norwich who have far better gates than the other clubs below them.

Barnsley averge 10,000 a season, half of our average crowd with far cheaper prices.

I'd say we're about right, we do OK, but we can't compete with the big boys like Wolves, Brum and Derby.
