Loach in the England squad. Why wasn't Camp?

So Ben Foster has pulled out of the squad due to injury and Watford's Scott Loach has been called up as a replacement.

Why wasn't Camp?

He was the stand out goalkeeper in the championship last season and has been with the under 21 squad in the past.

Some say Rob Green has been dropped due to that mistake at the WC but does anyone remember that goal Ozil scored past Loach in the Under 21 final a few years back?

I'm a bit bemused if I'm honest

Oh god, is this going to be the new 'Capello picked Joe Lewis when he was in division 2' misguided argument isn't it?

I'd rather he not get called up. I want to be selfish and make sure only we have Camp.

It'd be nice to brag to some other fans how we have England internationals playing for us though.

Although we know he'd go on for 10 minutes, concede 3 goals, and be awful for us for the rest of the season if he was ever called up

Good point, but I think Campo and the rest of us can rightly be bemused at Capello's latest crap decision.

It's not a decision on merit is it? Else he'd call up James or Green. Simplicity nothing more than that.

Exactly.

Whilst Camp's been excellent for us if we view things objectively for a moment there are a fair few keepers who are still clearly a fair way ahead of him in the pecking order. I imagine even if the decision wasn't made for the sake of convenience Camp still wouldn't have got in.

Personally I'm more irked that Kirkland never gets a look in.

If anyone else can't see how extremely disrespectful it would be to a manager of any team to pull their first choice keeper out of a match, on the day of the match, to join up with the England squad, they're clearly deluded. :fool:

I think Camp sould have gotten a look in. But Capello only picks 'names' not talent! He mush have heard Pearce mention his name and then a thought popped into his head!

Moving on to Wales, Gunter and Earnshaw key in Wales first goal. Gunter with a defence splitting pass to Earnshaw who provides a great cross.
