Liam Rory Delap

Normally I'd agree Monkman but who's the genuine third choice option. The others are in their 30's and will not be anywhere near a serious consideration for the next tournament.

I think it would be wise to bring him in and let him learn off Kane. Who better to watch at close proximity than the arguably the best striker in world football?
Yeah I don't disagree he's a good shout for the squad, I think I'm just wary of overreacting based on one and a bit good performances.

I kind of agree and yeah under normal circumstances I think you're spot on. I just don't see who the other genuine contender is for that third spot.

Reaching into the bag to dig up Toney, Watkins and Welbeck just seems utterly pointless considering they will be nowhere near the the squad for the next tournament.

I'd rather England were looking to the future and blooding a few younger strikers now. I'd even bring in someone from the U21's to at least start training with them.

The England squad for the upcoming international break is announced on Friday. Anyone think Delap has a chance of being included?

There's a lot of talk about him switching allegiance to Ireland, for whom his dad played.
Hallgrímsson, the Ireland manager, said that when asked about it said “Well, he didn’t say ‘F**k off’.”
When he was asked by Shay Given about declaring for Ireland on BBC Final Score on Saturday Delap replied: “I don’t know.”
I suspect he may be trying to put some pressure on Tuchel by suggesting that he has alternatives, but who knows?

Would be really nice, but you can also add Solanke to that list of oldies for TT to consider before Delap.
And also now Dowman before MGW!
Such is the stubbornness/blindness of TT

I'd forgot to factor in the TT total twatness. Forget it then.

TT has already shown that playing in the middle east does not exclude you from the national team. So Watkins is fair game at 30, Solanke at 29, Toney at 30, and DCL at 29, along with a 33 year old Kane. TT's contract is only for 2 more years. And as a Non-English manager, what does he care about bringing youth through when he has perfectly proven strikers at their peak age.

I don't agree with this, but It would be easy to see things this way.

As others here have said Kane, DCL, and Delap would be my choice of three as well.

I just wouldn't understand his logic of picking a bunch of strikers that haven't got a cat in hells chance of being anywhere near a tournament squad in 2 years time. I get it with Kane as others can really learn from him.

These games are nothing more than a glorified friendly (no matter how much UEFA dress it up) so why not bring some new blood through. Get Delap and one of the U21's in and leave Toney and Watkins to fingering camels.

They're glorified friendlies until England get relegated and are playing Slovenia, Romania and Finland next season and everyone's whining they're not getting any practice against the top teams. But I agree Tuchel should be looking to the future with his selection.

It just doesn’t fit with little Tommy tuchels modus operandi… he had plenty of friendlies and dead rubber qualifiers to blood some players, mess with his selection, you know in case of injuries to full backs etc. he just didn’t do it and kept selecting Henderson and a bunch of people he knew everything he needs to..

He’s pretty much the only England striker under 28 & half of the others have moved to obscure leagues or are just not playing. I don’t think it will take much to get in the squad, wouldn’t be surprised if he is based on the start he’s had to the season

Remember he will picking players for Euro 28 where you would presume he’s going to be in his prime & all those others behind Kane will be our the picture

You just know that if Tuchel decides on a young striker, it's going to be some 1 appearance wonder from one of the big 6 - or he'll just f*** it off completely and repeat his failed 'false 9' experiment.

It's bizarre really isn't it.

Tommy will come up with a bizarre solution just like he did for the WC selections.

Then from that bizarre selection he'll make further weird positional selections for games, so we won't know where we are.

I assume it’ll be Kane, Watkins and Calvert-Lewin? But it’s certainly not without a chance.
I know Watkins has history with the squad but in my eyes if you run off to the desert for a bag of money, you should not be meriting consideration. It tracks as lower quality than French Ligue 2 for crissakes:
