Left Back!

Left Back! No we have not yet signed one but after yesterday I honestly do not believe we can gain automatic promotion or win a play-off final without one. Surely to god there must be at least half a dozen in the championship or lower leagues who could do a job for us. They don't have to be as good as Shorey just good enough to restore some balance to the team.
Who were the LBs in the teams of the season last year for League 1 + 2 ? It is getting desperate now. :(:(:(:(

Newcastle n Donny had Van Aarnholt on loan from Chelsea. He is a class lb plays for Hollands u21s just sitting on bench atm at Chelsea.

Billy said he had enquired about a number of LBs last week and was met with 'No' on each try.

He also said; - That is why he prefered to do this business in January - because he knows how hard it is to get the right type of players in after that.

Will this Acquisition Committee ever listen? or learn?

We've got the right man for the job so let him do what he's employed to do - (MANAGE)

Had these issues been addressed in January we wouldn't be in this position, where we are all bleating on about the same thing now.

PSR, have you got some inside info on the position of a left-back that says the transfer committee ballsed it up?

And don't give me any bull about we don't have so therefore they ballsed it up. Thats not info, its an opinion.

Its obvious that we don;t have one.

It would seem to me that no one outside of a select few actualy know what happened. The only perspective we have for speculating on is Shorey's who believed he was coming back to Forest until the last minute Fulham deal appeared.

Thinking about it , I would prefer to have Joe Heath there than any of the others currently available. Letting him go is beginning to look like a big mistake.:(

Heath's not fit anyway.

He joined Exeter on trial last month and they like him and are planning on keeping him, but they're not announcing his signing until they know he can stay fit after the injury he picked up while at Lincoln.

My mate, who supports Exeter, reckons it'll be announced in the summer and he'll just be training with them until them to get fit.

We're not the only team in this division that don't have a left-back (off the top of my head, Ipswich are using a central defender there and Peterborough a left-winger.). They seem to be at something of a Premium at this level at the moment...

Thanks for that Jonathan, I wasn't sure what had happened to him after Lincoln or whether he was fit. Shame really about him and Maloney. Both have a lot of potential and in our current dire straits could perhaps have done a job.

I think Moloney would have been ideal to come into the side now at right-back, allowing Perch to fill McKenna's role in midfield and Gunter to move to left-back.

I honestly think too many people are pinning thier hopes on a lb to just fix all our problems. It isnt just the lb thats the problem, its fatigue. So many of the lads look shattered and confidence is low. A lb is desperately needed, but personally I dont believe it would cure all the problems- though it would be welcome boost

Agreed. I'd go further as to say that this is compounded by the fact that the players who've been on the fringes and could come into help relieve the fatigue - McGugan, Chambers, Garner, Tyson, Lynch et al, look rubbish whenever they come into the team, due to a lack of match practice...thanks in no small part to the increasingly stupid-looking decision to do away with the reserves.

We still play a fair few reserve games. Blaming that is crazy because the level of football isn't even enough to get players match fit.

I think I'm right in saying we play at least one reserve game a month against pretty decent opposition.

I'd rather that than week in week out against Chesterfield's 18-year-old reserves.

Be that as it may, whenever our fringe players have come in this season, (certainly after Billy dropped the early season rotations) they've looked totally off the pace and clear weak links in the team.

Clearly that one game a month isn't enough.
