Lee Naylor Heads Billy's Most Wanted List

http://www.forest.vitalfootball.co.uk/article.asp?a=177717

Billy Davies has drawn up his list of January transfer targets and had them approved by the Acquisitions Panel at the City Ground. CEO Mark Arthur will now have to negotiate the deals, that will complete the rebuilding of the squad for this season.

Celtic left back Lee Naylor, heads the list of targets. It's believed he will be one of 4 major signings that Forest hope to complete in the January transfer window. Naylor is 29 and has made over 300 appearances for the Bhoys, since joining from Wolves in 2006. Celtic paid £600,000 to Wolves for him and he's been an everpresent with the SPL side, in his 3 years with the club . His contract is up at the end of this season.

The other names on the list will become clearer in the next week or so, but Shorey at Villa, Whitbread at Millwall and Garvan at Ipswich are all being touted as possibles. Whitbread will have to prove his fitness before the Reds' make a firm move, as he has been out all season through injury. A move for Garvan, will only be considered if Billy Davies loses one of his midfielders. There are rumours of interest in Lewis McGugan, but Davies would prefer to add to his existing squad, rather than sell. Nicky Shorey at Aston Villa has been the subject of transfer speculation and even a move to the City Ground in the past week or so. Although he's made 6 appearances for Villa this season, he's way down the pecking order at Villa Park. He wouldn't come cheap, but he would be of the quality needed, if the Reds' are to make a serious challenge this season.

Helpful as always eh? :nowink:

Another story from Vital with recently linked players crammed into one story with supposed inside knowledge about how these are 100% going ahead behind the scenes raising the expectation of those that read them ust to be dashed when it turns out we never had an interest in them. This gets ignored by the majority who then start blaming the board thanks to fabrications by Vital.

I can't believe this thread has turned into a pantomime already.

Should probably make clear I meant the petty arguing, not the rumour itself - for what it is worth, I think JB is right. A few names from recent times and a couple from the past, throw them in to the pot with a halfway plausible storyline, then slate MA/ND/BD when all four aren't signed.

Indeed. Someone takes the time to share some info with us and is shot down straight away...

For the record I was insinuating VHS as a pain and having a go about Vital, not PSR for linking a story from there before I get myself into trouble. :D

Your quite right Brolin, like everyone else who sees something and thinks it's worth posting especially rumours regarding transfers where no-one else has put it on, then wherever it it comes from it is open for discussion but then you get a dick like VanHooijdonk's who can't help himself from attacking others posts from the off.

Johnny Bravo makes his point without insult which I found interesting and possibly right.

Yes, it was from vital but I'd hoped that a discussion regarding my first line "Lee Naylor Heads Billy's Most Wanted List" would have provoked a response of whether people on here rated the guy or not - similar to the Shorey & Bale posts.

Obviously Not.

I'd rather have Bale or Shorey and probably in that order. Naylor would be fine but not quite either of those.

Speaking as one who's followed the fortunes of Celtic.

Why would we want to get both Naylor and Shorey?

We only need one left back at the moment. I can't see either of them being happy as second fiddle in a Championship outfit?

Doesn't add up to me.

I believe Vital are genuinely trying to pass on information they have heard, but there's something not quite right about this latest rumour.

Rumour being right, until they have actually signed any players in the January transfer window and it is announced on the OS then everything is pure speculation or a rumour!

Personally i will wait until the player or players are announced on the OS , i personally like to see the rumours of who we are linked with especially on Vital as it gives me something to look forward to lol

For what it's worth PSR - don't react with the toys straight out of the pram. It all gets a bit playground - bullies only have a go when they know there'll be sport! I don't understand why you get a slating every time, but most reasonable posters DO feel some anti-you posts are a bit OTT.
Stuff off rumours is good for a laugh usually, but they seem to spray around lots of names and hope one come up trumps.

You're in trouble now PVHS. Getting a PM from Brog is like getting a 'special cuddle' from your uncle...needless, a little embarrassing, and in a wierd way kind of hilarious.
