Lee Camp playing for Scotland? That's the most conclusive piece of proof that Paul Smith is the superior keeper to date.

No wonder my post count..
Thats fantastic. We'll almost have a player from each position representing their country (Gunter and Earnshaw)

I think it's only at full international level that you can't change nationality.

Indeed. I think Ryan Giggs represented England at youth level in some capacity...shame he didn't continue to do so.

Mark Crossley played for one of the England youth teams before whoring himself to either Scotland or Wales to get a senior cap lol

I thought the rules were now that after you cross the age of 21, whatever your declared nationality is, you have to stick with it - unless you can convince FIFA on appeal.

I'll be interested to see if Scotland can swing this.

They've got Gordon though, can't see Camp supplanting him in a hurry.

He played for England schoolboys, because he went to school in England. He's never represented England in any international capacity, it's a myth.

Thanks for clearing that up :)

I think I read in the paper that they scrapped that rule this summer. You can now change your Nationality at any age except if you have already played a full national match for a country....

I think Camp would only be third choice if they had all their keepers fit.

Although, is the Rangers keeper still banned for the drinking and flagging incident?

Gordon's injured at the moment, so he could get a game!

I'm not in favour of the international call ups because of your grandparents' place of birth, but I'm more than happy for another one of our players to be an international.

He'd be third choice at very best. Gordon is quite easily the outstanding Scottish keeper at the moment and even with the likes of McGregor not being considered there's also Jamie Langfield, David Marshall and Graeme Smith in the running.

That said though, Burley seems to rate him so who knows? Very little chance of him ever displacing Craig Gordon though who's a vastly superior keeper.

I'm sure our match against Bradford will go ahead but if 3 players from a club are called up for international honours couldn't you appeal for the match to be cancelled?

Nick.

Once known as Nick.Doyle.nffc on 'ere.
Camp played for England U21s too, and now he is going to get called up for Scotland. Wouldn't be first choice anyway.

That's certainly true for the league, but I'm not sure it applies to cups, as all sorts of problems could occur with fixture congestion.

Not arsed with the League Cup anyway, I'd imagine BD probably has it below talking in the first person on his list of priorities.

Giggs has never been eligible to pay for England, it's a common myth that he 'chose' to play for Wales instead.

He played for England schoolboys as he was schooled in England, which is the requirement at that level.

Fair enough. At least it gets rid of my annoyance that we've been missing out on a quality left winger all these years...though now it's been replaced by anger that I've been lied to for all of said years.

I think I'm right in saying that Nigel Quashie played for the U21s when he was at QPR shortly before he joined us, and is now obviously a regular in the Scotland squad.

According to Wikipedia at least, you are indeed correct.
