Lee Camp on Capello's radar?

It's not beyond the realms of possibility but it's still rather unlikely. A good barometer of his chances will come in March when England play Eygpt (I think) in a friendly. If he isn't selected in the squad for that match then he can book his summer holiday.

I'd love to see him get a call up though. It's been an eternity since we had a Forest player in the national set up.

He has been outstanding, but unless you're a seasoned pro who's playing for a recently relegated Premier League side, i think the chances of a Championship player getting called up for a first cap is low - despite his cracking form.

I think every Forest fan feels the same way! It would be great to see campy in the England squad! But the fact that he doesnt play in the top league will be the major factor! He isnt tested but world class strikers! Joe Hart will be Englands number 1 and if Robinson can hit some form he will be in! I know he can be a calamity but England is in need of some top flight Keepers!!!

Camp to us will be Englands number 1!

Thought this was going to be a proper rumour but sadly with Lee at '50' in the top 50 players some Mail journalist thinks he should look at, I don't think the superior Joe Hart, David James, Paul Robinson etc will be losing sleep.

And considering he's also behind the long since retired Paul Scholes it shows that even the journalist doubts his chances somewhat.

I just can't see it at all, Camp deserves plenty of credit along with the defence for our goals conceded column - but let's not be too silly. Will Kelv and Wes be getting a call-up too? Both tend to fall up there and even above Camp when people talk about player of the year...

Nice to have a player who is talked about on one of these lists. Thats about as far as it goes for now.

I expect Shorey will be on the list at some point too. He's doing very well at Fulham. They are unbeaten in the 6 games since he signed and have only conceeded 2 goals. Sound familure?

It would take injuries to at least 2 of Hart, James, Kirkland, Robinson and Green for Camp to even be considered.

Then again with James' poor form coupled with Kirkland and Greens fitness issues there is always a chance.

Its a reflection of how gash most English number 1's are that a keeper playing in the second tier is being discussed as a possibility (much as I rate Campy).

Yeah it's strange that Arsenal have people like Almunia and Fabianski who, let's face it, aren't any better than most English keepers.

Even better foreign keepers like Howard, Given, Van Der Saar etc are prone to mistakes.

On the subject of keepers, who was the young lad saving shots in the Forest warm up on Saturday? He was making some impressive saves!

I think that was Karl Darlow, Forest's youth team 'keeper.

Back on topic... didn't Capello call-up Joe Lewis to his squad a while back, when Peterborough were still in League One? It shows that he is willing to look outside the top flight.

Lewis was only called up because someone dropped out and as the majority of keepers will have been sat on a beach somewhere due to the season being over it made sense to promote someone from the U21's.

He was never in with a shout of getting on the pitch either, so it doesn't mean that Camp is in with a chance of being called up.

If we go up and if Camp performs well in the Premiership, then Capello will consider him.

I remember listening to a Psycho interview when he was asked about Lewis' call up.

He stated that he was only there as he wanted Capello to take a look at him and the call up was all down to himself. So he was only there as Psycho thought he was something special.

...and Lewis of course. He thinks he's bloody marvellous.

HE IS NOT GOING TO GET IN THE ENGLAND SQUAD..

Would you honestly have any of the likes of:

Robinson
James
Kirkland
Green
Hart

miss out for Camp I certainly wouldn't I would feel very very sorry for any of those above if they were to lose out on an england squad in place of Camp.

I would personally have James, Hart, Green in the squad with Hart being number 1 the way things are at the moment. If injuries there are the 2 other keepers there to replace them Im sorry but Camps only chance of getting in is if 3 or more of those keepers are injured and cannot be in the squad as far as Im concerned.

But you wouldn't have Camp in goal for Forest lol

No need to worry Camp knockers, it was SA Training Camp being checked out, I'm not sure whe we plays for.

with his play this season he definitely deserves a look, but i doubt they will take that long of a gawk at him

I don't see why not and I think he deserves it.
If I remember correctly even Peterborough's Joe Lewis was called to England's senior squad from League One under Capello.
England's three goalkeepers for the world cup should be Green, Hart and Camp. Robinson, Kirkland and James aren't better.

Arrgh!!! Will people stop going on about Joe Lewis!

He was called up when Kirkland pulled out of a squad after the season had finished and all the other suitable candidates were on their end of season holidays.

Look:
http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/sport/football/football_league/article3998991.ece

Brought along 'For the ride.' after Kirkland pulled out 24 hours before the match.

Never going to play but was in the Under 21 squad training nearby.

Camp will be in goal for the next world cup but there's far more suitable candidates for this one.
