Leaving Early

If I get shot down about this I apologise, first topic Ive started and all.

Over the past six years of being a season ticket there is one thing that has become more and more apparent; People leaving early! And its not just the fact that they're leaving early, its the fact that when they do, they take their time hence meaning most of us cant see some of the match as they are in the way!

This was ever so apparent tonight. People often comment about how fickle forest fans are, then counter the argument with how good they are. But on this evidence half of the forest crowd at the Watford match this evening really didn't give a monkeys in the end.

Fair enough, on the whole it really want a good performance at all, exempt from a few burst of five minutes when we laid siege with our attacking prioress. But are we not meant to be supporting our team! Can people really comment on the whole game if they have not seen all the game. Sometimes it just seems like the forest crowd wont support the team unless everything is hunky dory. I mean there are so many people in the upper Brian clough where I sit that moan from the first minute to the last (minute they are there!)

I know there is always going to also be the argument that if your spnding your money on the ticket, you can make your own mind up on when to leave, but surely if you are spending the money, why not support?

And as I travel home from the match, no surprise that they're are people moaning already on the radio! Wheres the positivity ever at this club? It feels sometimes that no one wishes to give the players a chance, its early in the season and so much can still change. And surely with prices being high for tickets etc. why not get value for the money that your spending to go in the first place?

Sorry for the rant, but I needed to say it. Here's to a good season.
Sam :)

It's difficult to get all happy clappy when whats being served up in front of you is dross. Forest have to entertain just as much as the crowd have to get behind their team - catch 22.

I left because i had enough.

Free world and all that?

We all pay our money so if some choose to leave early we have a right, especially after that disgrace of a performance.

Aye it is a free world and like I said it was all rubbish tonight. But why have a go at us that are watching and dont get up staright away? And why leave so lowly so as people cant see?

Think the first wave of people who left was abit too early but after the last goal can't blame anyone for going.

I can only leave as quick as the guy in front. I'm only human, not a steamroller.

the only time i've ever left early was shortly after ipswich's 6th goal when we got hammered there under megson , i wasn't too concerned about not getting the full value out of my ticket by not staying the full 90 minutes as all i felt was anger, frustration, disappointment , bewilderment etc and i certainly didn't want to prolong all these wonderful feelings by continuing to watch any more (although these feelings did stay with me quite a while anyway ) especially if i'd witnessed any more goals that might have gone in so i can understand to some extent why some people do f*** off early when everything seems to be heading down the toilet.

Its all a chain reaction though

Started by the guy in front, you see my point?

I want to leave, i'm not going to sit there and watch Watford put more goals past us, just because people are leaving slowly.

Lets face it, in the 4 seconds that you missed of the game when the person in front was leaving, all you missed was Gunter misplacing a pass.

We got up when it was 4 and made for the exit I must admit, not before that but a lot of people did, even on 2-1, people went to get balti pies when it was 1-0!

I find it very disappointing when people leave early, I always bloody-mindedly stay 'til the end despite often wishing I didn't have that strange predilection.

People used to leave early even back when we were winning European cups.

Evening young man. ;D

As you get older you get wiser.

When you see 2/3k leaving early you have a choice - join them or add 20mins to your journey home.

It takes something special to make the entire crowd stay till the whistle.

Tonight was not special.

When the crowd stay till the end just to voice their displeasure - Then, that's the time to moan.

No wonder my post count..
I find it very hard to watch my team when they're 5-0 down (note: Burnley).

It's not like I'm disgraced, it's more like I'm scared of seeing us get even more pummeled.

Must admit when Dele scored I was wondering if Kilburn Red had his customary 3-3 bet on :D

Fickle fans. It's all "YYYOOOOUUUU REDDDDSSSSS" and "FOREST TIL I DIE" when we're playing well at the end of the first half, not long later we're 3-1 down and not playing well and they're booing and walking out. Walking out on their team. The game wasn't over, the players still need the support and where are they to be seen? After the last goal fair enough, the game was all but over, but 15 minutes earlier is disappointing.

The grumbling happened well before the walking out started. Our home 'support' in patches is bloody awful at times.

Win, lose or draw, I always head for the exit at 4:45 on a Saturday afternoon and 9:30 for a midweek game. That's because I travel to games from Dover and I then have to head all the way back again, and when you factor in queues and traffic that quickly build up after the final whistle then the five minutes of the game I miss end up saving me at least another half an hour in the car. So I'm one of those who gets up early but I don't think anyone could seriously question my commitment or support for Forest when I have to make a five hundred-mile round trip for home games around twenty times a season.

Lots of people have other legitimate reasons for leaving early though. For instance, there were plenty of kids at the game tonight and you have to remember that parents have to get them home and tucked up in bed before it gets too late - even those kids that live round the corner from the City Ground won't be in bed much before 10 even if they leave their seats at 9:30. So it's not always as simple as fans being fickle and not supporting the team properly - there are other responsibilities and commitments in life for most people and they don't all have the luxury of having so much spare time that they can afford to stay until the final whistle every week.

We left early because my daughter said she had had enough and could we go home -so had we...so off we went.
At least we got out of the carpark before the rush and probably got home half and hour early!

I really thought we would kick on and win today.
Cant undestand what changed from the good solid performance on Saturday -or were West Brom just poor?

Having 6 strikers could be more harm than good -Billy has chopped and changed the pairing so much. Also Dele's height would have been good against their tall defence.

Just hope ND gets his cheque book and pen out ...awful feeling he isn't going to.

2004 Walsall and the epic adventure continues to the tune of 9k!

As I drove through the Embankment gates near Wilford and the score turned 4-2, I shed a sigh of relief.

One day. :D
