Kelvin Wilson

Just wondering why Wilson doesn't start games anymore (even though he is better than Chambers and possibly Morgan) and is constantly being linked with a move away from the City Ground??

Has he fallen out with BD?

Merry Christmas all!

I'd say Wilson is one of the top 3 centre backs in this league possibly the best. He is obviously leaving

Chambers has been very impressive so far this season, hopefully he keeps it up. Wilson wouldnt get into the team ahead of chambers on his current form.

How has Wilson had the chance to build any form lol They say he is injured etc but he has been on the bench quite a bit

you obviously have not seen a match this season.

chambers is the new dawson, and the future captain imo.

When they both play at their best.... Chambers looks like a Championship player and Wilson is a level above.
However what goes on inside their heads is another matter.

wilsons been on the bench because he wont sign a new contract and is probably off in january, it makes sense tbh, might as well give wes and chambers as much time as possible together to form a good partnership, if kelvin wants to be a twat and f*** us over thats his problem, but we sholdnt feel under any pressure to play him unless we need to, The Wilson of last season and the Chambers of this season would make a brilliant partnership sadly, but hey, if he wants to f*** off up to jockland just for more cash, an early exit from the champions league every season and 4 league games a season which arent utterly meaningless, thats his choice

Every game Wilson starts on the bench is another game that a different club doesn't get to see him play. Celtic may well have been interested on last seasons form but this season he's not got in our starting 11 so why Celtics?

I'm hoping this is all a rather nice ploy by Billy and Kelv suddenly realises his only options are us or a sideways step.

I think you've worked out what goes on inside Wilsons head already... ;)

To be fair to Wilson, he is at an age where I wouldn't blame him for trying to secure his future. He has helped the cause of Nottingham Forest substantially and this appears to have been easily forgotten by some fans. Personally I wish him all the very best for the future, even if it's away from the city ground as it appears. I would also like to thank him for his contribution he has made to the club, which is a damn site more than other players of the past.

Kelvin is a very good player, and has served Forest very well

Makes sense to keep him on the bench in my op when we have players wanting to play for the club

The club will receive nothing for Kelvin, so the obvious problem for Kelvin short term is match Fitness, but I'm sure playing games against teams likes St Mirren will get him up to speed:nowink:

Good luck to him, he will need it.

The only real long term hope for him is prem league footy, but I'm sure the competition isn't strong enough in Scotland ensure Kelvs dream. In my op, should have stayed with us, but he's a eager lad isn't he.

He got injured and chambo took his place and has been excellent since taking the chance. Wilson can't get back in the team at present.

Yeh I never go to matches ever LOL Never even seen Wilson play. On a serious Ive seen Wilson play one full game at home this season v Ipswich and he was head and shoulders above both Chambers & Morgan. Im not denying Chambers has improved this season at all as I do agree but I am saying that Wilson is easily a future prem centre back and Chambers and Wes are middle table championship players at best. Chambers dowsnt have a clue what holding the ball is nor what running into the space infront of you is, he barely knows what passing forward is the good thing about Chambers though is he has a good head on him and this provides a decent goal threat but only from set pieces where the problem then becomes delivering the ball to his head and before anyone starts yarning on about Saturday its only one goal and all of Mcgugans corner deliveries were superb. Seem to remember cgugan delivering the ball against Swansea last season

We need stats on goals conceded this season with the central defensive pairing. Without checking i would think wes and chambers have leaked less goals per game.

I suspect he's not playing to keep him out of the shop window so hopefully nobody bids for him, I think BD would rather let his contract run out than see him go in Jan. So keep him away until the deadline closes then use him after then, we either get promoted and he signs a new contract or we don't and he'll prob leave. All conjecture though.

Whilst Chambers has taken the opportunity to impress since covering Wilson's injury, Wilson wasn't exactly playing well before this. I don't think it's any coincidence that we're not conceding so many soft goals as we were at the seasons onset.

Wilson is by far the better defender technically. But unless he sorts his head out & puts the effort in - he's going to be warming the bench for the remainder of his contract.

yes chambers has been good this season, but he is still not better then wilson. chambers is better then morgan on current form but wilson is better then both in my opinion. we dont have another CB with the composure on the ball who will turn the attacker and then calmly bring it out and then look for an option to pass it to, morgan likes to hoof it forward and chambers likes to always hit it out for a throw although he is getting better at spreading the play from the back. Wilson is also a great leader constently shouting on the pitch, if you have ever watched him he is always giving out instructions from the back. i think wilson also brings the best out of wes , as morgan feels security with wilson since he knows he has pace to cover his back and has a great great great sliding tackle, which i remember saved us on a few occasions last season.

Luke Chambers has been Forest's most improved player this season and is in the team on merit.

If Kelvin doesn't want to sign a new deal and wants to leave then fine, thanks very much Kelvin and good luck wherever you end up (and if it's Scotland then Lord knows you'll need it!)

Hey there guys Celtic fan coming in peace , just looking for some info on our soon to be new defender coming from you guys , just how good is he and what are his main strengths and weaknesses ?

Best attribute is his ability to play it out from the back and his strength.

Disappointed to see him go but in reality he has only had one maybe two good seasons in the time he has been at the club

Just had a look at the Championship table and noticed that only QPR have conceeded fewer goals than us. Morgan/Chambers/Gunter/Bertrand are doing a solid job at the moment. Long may it continue.

Cheers guys , does he have much pace about him , do not really want other Championship donkey ie Loovens , if he is anything like that big dildo you guys can hold on to him .

Wilson's a very good, classy defender.

Think of him like a Championship version of Rio Ferdinand. He's confident on the ball, likes to pass it around and is very strong both with and without the ball. I'll be sad to see him go as he was one of, if not the best player at the club last season.

Just a shame his head has been turned by a club who, no offence intended, are really no better than us.

EDIT: Yes, he's pretty quick.
