Does anyone else think we might have been overreacting a touch to Wilson's sending-off towards the end of last season? As I recall, he was generally pretty solid up to that point and it was only when he got himself sent off that everyone seemed to turn against him.
Perhaps now would be a good time to put that episode behind us, especially since it would seem BD has no intention of letting him go any time soon (after all, he has only just been given the number 6 shirt for the 2009 / 2010 season). I'm sure Wilson will have learned his lesson from that moment-of-madness incident and he may well emerge a better player for it. I just hope that when his name is announced in the starting line-up in a couple of weeks' time that we don't boo him - that would be a disaster, not just for him but for the whole team.
Let's also try to put that incident in perspective - he didn't break anyone's leg and ruin their career, steal their pension fund or drown their kittens in the Trent - he just got himself a little bit too fired up for a crucial game and overdid it a bit on the passion / aggression front. What's done is done, let's all try to be reasonable and give him one more chance and let's get behind him and the whole team for what promises to be one of the best seasons in years.
There. I've said it. Back to the lurking!!
