Just one point and one place behind the Sheep

We finished so close, if only one of those games..

Still nice to finish on a win! ;D

Only three goals difference as well.

Derby really are f***ing shit.

Also apparently Cardiff haven't made the playoffs. And newcastle are still three adrift, Barton sent off for being a knob. Moussi's going to kill him next season.

Cardiff missed out the play-offs due to scoring one less than Preston.

Funny that, I seem to remember a 6-0 victory involving those two teams. :D

Makes you wonder today, both Sammy Clingan & Kris Commons must be slighty regreting those stupid statements about moving to a bigger club...... Ho Ho!

Clingan lol, even though, I can see someone putting a bid in for him.

To say Derby have this massive squad, and they only finished one place above us. With our squad with barely no experience in the Championship, that could be a positive note!

Despite the win at Forest, Derby have had a terrible run. The real clincher in keeping them ahead of us was their win at Wednesday. This was the game where a draw would have seen them eventually overtaken by the mighty reds.

By the way - today's game v the Saints should illustrate everything good and bad about us. Good - obvious talent in spells all over the pitch, great management (good substitutions), great spirit (we never say die now) etc. Bad - we had no real leadership on the pitch and let Soton largely dictate the game, we're missing a general or destroyer in midfield and our defence is shaky in the centre (even with Wes, I fear.
I think Billy will find today's game useful when he's planning................

Questions - Will Chambers develop into a good centre half?
Will McGugan become the player he thinks he is?
Can we sign our loan players?
How much will Doughty release?
Is an assault on the prem a possibility?

To finish just 1 point behind the sheep who were supposedly a premiership team last season is no bad thing. Shame i bet my sisters fiance that we'd finissh above them though,, i'll give him the £20 next time i see him. I say give,, it'll be more of an interest free loan until this time next season :)

Questions - Will Chambers develop into a good centre half? Yes, from what I've heard he was awesome today
Will McGugan become the player he thinks he is? You'd like to think so, his post match interview was encouraging
Can we sign our loan players? At least 3 of them I'd say, but more than likely most
How much will Doughty release? £10m million for the whole season seems reasonable?
Is an assault on the prem a possibility? In a couple of years, there is absolutely no reason why it's not. We have a driven, determined manager, a talented squad that is battle hardened and just in need of some additions and an owner who loves the club and has stated his ambition to get us back into the Prem

Considering our league position as little as a few games ago, to finish 19th is a huge achievement. It would have been sweet to finish ahead of the Rams yet our time will come.

The Brian Clough trophy will come home.

Would have settled for that a couple of weeks ago. I'd be dissapointed if we didn't finish above them next season because I see them really struggling again.

Will McGugan become the player he thinks he is?Depends, he spends too much time on the ball.. and somtimes needs to pass it
Can we sign our loan players?Maybe, Blackstock. Gunter, I cant see Spurs letting him go. and Anderson same
How much will Doughty release?10 Million, I guess.
Is an assault on the prem a possibility? Not next year, steady build up, and with a very good squad- a few years time we can!

Questions -
Will Chambers develop into a good centre half? He will develop into a solid backup centre-half

Will McGugan become the player he thinks he is? Seeing as that seems to be some kind of fusion of Pele/Best/Jesus , then no. He will struggle to get into the team next season if he doesn't improve, that's for sure.

Can we sign our loan players? I think we could get Gunter in on loan again. And possibly sign Blackstock if we are willing to pay the asking price & wages

How much will Doughty release? I think we'll spend £6m tops. Maybe less if we have several loans in again

Is an assault on the prem a possibility? Nope. Give it another 12 months and we might be in with a shout

Questions - Will Chambers develop into a good centre half? At this level on a regular basis I have my doubts, adequate enough backup though
Will McGugan become the player he thinks he is? I don't know, I know Davies has been frustrated with him at times as have we. A work in progress
Can we sign our loan players? Blackstock seems a certainty barring another major Arthur cockup, Gunter will sign for another year, Anderson won't be returning
How much will Doughty release? No idea, I expect us to be relatively high spenders again
Is an assault on the prem a possibility? Billy knows first hand what happens when a side is promoted to the premiership too soon. We should be gearing for a promotion assault next summer though
