Just a couple of points about today

Firstly; what a finish! It was like Yeovil all over again.

Also, well done Chris Gunter. For ages I have wished that Forest would be just a little dirty and bend the rules and today we did. He got that bloke sent off and he knew exactly what he was doing. He was screaming at the Lino on both sides for both incidents and they completely went for it. His badgering was as good as our goals in terms of how the game went. He also played very well.

Shame on the fans that left then came trawling back. Unless you genuinely need to go somewhere then there is no excuse! Plus those part timers got to celebrate the winner with all the players!!

Finlay; well done to all those that forced Paul Smith out of a job at Forest. We replaced a keeper who was uncomfortable with crosses with, erm, a keeper who seems worse! I'm not Smith's biggest fan or critic, but if Turner ends up costing us due to being slack like today then a part of the blame will lie right with us supporters.

And well done Dexter, lets stay up and sign this lad. He made such a difference today.

I don't think Gunter got their lad sent off at all - what he did was perfectly justified either within the actual rules, or the mysterious unwritten ones.

Their bloke got sent off because he deserved to.

Apparently Turner had been ill before hand and it showed, hopefully it was just a bad day at the office.

Couldn't agree more on everything else though, especially Gunter who was my MOTM. He does look so comfortable on the ball and he was excellent today.

I still preferr Smith, but It does look like at the moment that Turner will stay in goal til the end of the season, so let's hope it was just a bad day. And If we stay up, I think Dexter will sign up.

I think we should all stay behind Turner and back him. We've all seen what effect badgering a goalkeeper can have on their confidence.

Turner in!

According to Colin & John on the radio he should have been sent off in the first half for elbowing Gunter in the face. Anybody see that? Maybe Gunter really wanted him carded after that.

I saw *something* happen, but couldn't really make out what had occurred.

He did elbow him. But only cause Gunter was holding on to him and just generally pestering off the ball.

Which is why I said it was Gunter that got him sent off. Yes, the bloke deserved to go, but it was Gunter that was at him all day.

There was some sort of altercation between the two down near the A Block - and Gunter and Morgan had a good go at the Ref for it in an effort to get one of the Bristol players carded - which I thought was pretty poor to be honest.

Bristol OS says that Gunter did'nt give them the ball back when they kicked it out following Basso's cramp and was'nt fair, their manager said the 'ref' got it wrong and cost them the game, well as I remember it Gunter threw the ball towards the corner and their left back hesitated , Gunter went towards him stopped with his hands out wondering what to do and then made a challenge, the left back dragging him down and laying on him!

Indeed. Gunter threw the ball to the left back, who controlled it and then farted about. He had time to clear it, he didn't.

Tough shit.

We shouldn't have given the ball back anyway, there was nothing wrong with Basso.

he seemed to be limping for the rest of the match

Yup Gunter did nothing wrong whatsoever.

Turner's mistakes (esp the 2nd) were because he came off his line when he didn't need to.

What we need is a goalie who is willing to be brave enough to stay on his line  Any ideas?

It wasn't the only time he came haring off his line for no good reason either - once he was begging to be lobbed if it fell for a brizzle player, another time he tackled Lynch and again, Brizzle should've scored but for a casual shot that Wils got back well to clear.

People spoke of being nervous whenever the ball was in the box with Smith in the side, well today I was more nervous than many a game in that situation.

To offer balance though, a good save in the first half from a header, good save with his leg at the near post in the second half and a couple of decent punches on crosses too.

Distribution better this week too aside from that kicked clearance that never got 3 feet off the ground and went straight to a Brizzle player.

Very true. The thing that winds me up is it is good sportsmanship to throw the ball back to the opposing team when one of their players are injured, yet most of the time the injury is faked...... What I saw today with their goalie seemed to back that up so well done Gunter :1st:

There was something wrong with Basso from about 20mins in. He was holding his head and putting his hands on his knees. But if it was that bad they should have taken him off.

IMO Gunter had every right to go for the ball.

1) It was the referee's duty to stop the play and order treatment, not Chris Gunters.

2) They had possesion but why should we let him have all the time in the world when we are 2-1 down, if he decides to time waste the well done Gunter for having the guts to retain possesion.

I wouldn't say it is a nasty side, but when we are where we are and need points then we need to get all we can. If that means encouraging officials to make the CORRECT decision then so be it.

Well Done today lads, both supporters and players, although its not the same set of circumstances and direct outcome today wasn't far behind the Yeovil game last season for me.

Oh the irony.

All season long we've had a goalkeeper being slated on a weekly basis for 'not coming off his line'.

Lets just get behind Turner because he is our goalkeeper for at least 4 more games.......

After todays performance, i bloody hope not, Billy should drop Turner and bring back Smith, this would then allow us to use 5 outfield loanees :)

If Smith had played like that today there'd have been about 20 threads about him raging now lol

So, in essence, you're blaming the lack of anti-Paul Smith threads on the fact that he didn't play? I agree - he's completely to blame!

If Tyson, Earnshaw and Moussi/Perch are not right for Monday he may have to do that anyway !!
