I was wondering if Davies is thinking that as he didnt manage to get a left back in january he might as well wait for bennett as by the sounds of it he is nearing a return and that way he wouldnt have to settle any one new in and you wouldnt have to worry about when any loan ran out

Davies has stated that Bennett is unlikely to play again this season, so Bennett is unlikely to influence his thinking to bringing a left-back in.

We have to remember that although Bennett has a **** load of passion, he's been injured for years and being as he didn't have that much ability before he was injured, its unlikely that he'll be much help.

fair enough said in one of the match previews that Bennett was making good progress but prehaps this doesnt mean he is on his way back my mistake

He should be in training soon, but after so long out it would take a considerable amount of training before he gets to any degree of fitness, and certainly match sharpness.

As for those that write him off, I suspect you're right - however Billy's not had a chance to work with Jules so I imagine he'll be keen to give him a chance.

I've never particuarly rated Bennett that highly, I was astounded when he won player of the year. Whilst he had a good season, I felt Smith, Wes, Wilson and Cohen were better candidates.

His passion is to be admired, but I just don't think he is good enough for this level. He didn't look impressive at all when he played last season and to be honest I think Lynch is a better left-back.

He will make a good left-back for a league one club though.

Upper body training hasnt been a problem for him either by the looks of the pictures from when the new kit was released. His arms are huge

I'm not 100% decided on this. I've only got to 5-7 games a season the last few years (an really annoyingly, not a single one this season!). From what I've seen of Bennett, he's always up for the game despite being less 'accomplished' than other players.

He seems to have a temperament like Rooney a few years back (where the parallel ends) in which his passion can be both an asset to the team, and a banana skin.

I've seen him on one hand being the only player who wanted to get forward at the New Den and so carrying our game (caveat - I've seen him leave us open at the back with a centre back covering!), and on the other showboating at the corner flag against Reading when we first got back to the championship and giving the ball away. Plus countless times when he might have left us down to 10 men!

I woud really like to see him come back and see if he has had the opportiunity to learn from Davies and the rest of the team (and particularly if he picked up anything from seeing Shorey in training and in games). I feel if he could refine his game somewhat he could be a really good left back.

Of course all of this relies on him getting back to fitness!

I admire his comittment and passion. He's still relatively young for a defender and I'll be sad if I don't get to see him running on to the pitch in a red shirt in the future.

Jules didn't win player of the season for nothing; in our "Promotion" year, he was voted the best player in the squad.

Anyone who had seen him play would recognise his abilities; of course, he had a wretched season last year, a broken collar-bone followed by a a horrible knee-ligament injury.

I am hopeful he can resume his career at least with Forest; he has the passion and commitment we desperately need!

Get well soon Jules!!

People write him off way too quickly.

There are a few players that have been **** but then imporved under Davies.

It's always the same. People wrote off Perch, but he has came back strong and so will Bennett. He, I feel, has made his game on his passion but he still has the ability to play else he wouldn't be a professional. Also i'll never forget his goal against Yeovil.

i think wen he comes back he will be a better centre back cover than a left back, he has the physical strength, i dont think he has the pace for a full back if hes been out for above a year, always have liked him and would love to see him come back like when he first came into the squad, he has the passion for the club and will put in 110% every match, i dont think he hasnt put full effort in match.

I spoke with him the other day it is very unlikely he will play again this season, he wont be rushed back after all the time it has taken, its a sad situation as I believe his contract is up this season also.......
