gutted if thats true. He's quality, definitely beats having cohen at left back. Gunter morgan wilson bennett would actually be a good back four, despite all the worries when we didn't sign a centre back

How many games did Bennett play last season??

I remember he missed some of the games in the autumn, after busting his shoulder blade or collar bone (he collided with Lee Camp didn't he?)

I can't remember whether he played well or not...

Don't think Bennett has adapted to this division last season before he got injured , he has a long way to go and has a lot to prove.

Last season , he kept doing those idiotic stepovers like he's ronaldo when he's obviously not and losing the ball in the process. At this stage , he's definitely not better than Cohen.

we might just see a defender come in on loan then in the next few weeks, I had the feeling we where waiting on bennet befoe commiting to any more signings

When he was playing he was in a jittery young team finding their feet back in this division. If he came into the team we have now, he'd been more than adequate.

No?

After a shaky start with us he started to play pretty brilliantly most weeks, just like he did for Walsall against us when I think a lot of us raised an eyebrow at his talents.

As of yet he's not been tested in the Championship so it's difficult to say, but given his physical attributes and 100% commitment there's every hope that he'll do just fine. Playing Cohen at left back is getting us by but what a huge difference it would make to have JuBen there instead.

We've not had two proper attacking, skillful full backs since the days of Matthieu and Jim Brennan and I for one am desperate to see Bennett back in the side.

And he'll still be doing that silly stepover thinking he's bigtime charlie ronaldo , he was struggling to adapt last season. Once he recovers , he has everything to prove to a new manager and to the fans.
Better team or not , as a defender , you do your job as a defender and last season , bennett was struggling against players running at him.

But so was the whole defence. We were all saying Chambo, Wilson etc were out of their depth, but they have learnt and developed. I certainly think Jules will judging by the last season in L1

The rest adapted eventually throughout the season , Bennett got injured before he could. He has a long way to go. He's way behind the rest and not proven to Billy.

He is, but it's no coincidence they started to perform when Billy came in. I think he can do it ! Although I don't see him given many run outs this season due to him missing the pre-season !

That goal Bennet scored against Yeovil in May 2008 was incredible. That's what I think of when I hear his name, and Colin Fray losing the plot on the commentary.

Genuinely don't know if he could cut it at this level. Would definitely have an influence though, some of the tackles he put in in League one were proper "crunchers"... I think he could add an aggressive edge to our defence, that if channeled properly, would certainly be advantageous, and might be something Billy would cherish.

The thing is , Bennett goes to ground fairly easily , if he gets the ball , it's fine but if he doesn't , he just left a huge gap for the opposition to exploit. At this level , don't think he can dive in so easily as he did at league one level.

Remember Gino Padula , now that was a left back that likes to slide tackle and misses the ball and his man.
