well he got a chance today and by all accounts did ok, now i like all our strikers and can see what each of them brings but i do think garns should only be behind dex and earnie in the pecking order, and do wonder why he has barely been used when he has proved he is a goalscorer, works hard, and for me is always a threat up front. hope to see more of him now although with billy sayinh after the game "i think garns will be dissapointed with the miss" then maybe not, as billy clearly is not his biggest fan as it is!

I think he made his bed last season. You say he works hard, im not so sure of that. He puts himself about and makes an annoyance for defenders but that doesnt mean he works hard.

Last year he put in some shit, lazy performances which BD was quick to pick up on and he's not really figured since.

I like Garner but he needs confidence and you only get that when you get a run in the team which at the moment isn't going to happen

Fitness and off-field attitude permitting, he should be given as good a chance as McGoldrick. I'd imagine we'll see more of both before the end of the season.

I wonder, all other things aside, in a one-on-one who are you going to put a tenner on to score, Garner, McGoldrick, Adebola or Tyson?

I wouldn't put a tenner on any of them

I have thought Joe Garner to be an average player ever since he came to the club. But last year he showed he can just about cut it at this level scoring vital goals in games to keep us in the division. His goals against Barnsley at home and Bristol City home and away were just as important as some of Earnshaws goals. I think that Garner is a better player than McGoldrick and a far better play than Adebola. He has got what he has deserved this season. If he has been playin on a more regular basis like Adebola and Mcgoldrick he probably would have scored his chance yesterday. All he needs is more match time.

I really like Garner, he brings an attitude that we haven't seen that much. However, he does need a run of games in the side to get back into it

It's not like we're creating many chances these days, but all the non-Garner strikers at the club have been watched over and over by the opposition and in most cases there are fairly obvious means of taking a Forest striker out of the game... Earnshaw you force his supply lines to go aerial then outjump him, Dex play him into uncomfortable positions, McGoldrick you mark his partner out of the game so he plays a stray pass, Tyson you sit someone deep to negate his pace, Adebola you have a nice sit down and read the paper.

Garner is a bit of an unknown quantity now and given a start with the right foil and supply he's got the element of surprise - we've been at our best against Championship defences when we've been creating options in a flowing game - Champ defences can be drilled to account for Forest frontlines ut they aren't so good at adapting. I'd say Garner stands a good chance of forcing a backline to adapt or suffer the consequences. Plus he's an aggressive little f***er and will tire a jaded defender towards the end of a season.

Ultimately, when ho's scored for us they've been lovely, tricky goals quite often.

Everyone wanted to see him have a go, glad to see he's gerrin' a bit of a go.

top of the Diamond, in the Jack Lester role, that's where I'd play him. It's a shame Billy hasn't given him a since start in God knows how long, I think he's got something to offer.

He was good yesterday. His passing and ability to spread the play were better than most. He should've scored with his header as he had the whole goal to aim at, unchallenged, but that's what happens when you're not playing regularly. He's definitely our best player 'in the hole', better than Raddy imho. If Earnie is out tomorrow, he should start.

Would be nice. Billy clearly doesn't have a lot of love for him if the best he can do is say 'he should have scored' after yesterday. I guess that's the tough love that's got Wilson and Morgan playing out of their skin though, instead of last seasons dire stuff, which we can't really argue with eh!
