One of the main causes for concern regarding the Nottingham Forest squad of last season, was the absence of a recognised left back at the club. With the injury to Julian Bennett ruling him out of the entire campaign, Forest played without an experienced player in the position for the whole season. Wilfred Bouma, Patrick van Aanholt and even Nicky Shorey have been touted as possible players to fill the void in recent months, but we believe the club are looking a little further afield and are hoping to secure the services of a young 19 year old from Norway, Joakim Vage Nilsen.

Nilsen plies his trade in the Norwegian Tippeligaen, with FK Haugesund and has represented his country at U19 level. There's not much known about the fella, but he's said to have a shot on him that resembles a certain Stuart Pearce. Nilsens' name was leaked out on the forum on Sunday, by a regular poster and has since been confirmed as the number one choice to fill the troublesome position at left back. The deal has not been completed, but discussions to make him a signing for the Reds', are said to be progressing well.

It's also strongly rumoured that Stoke City striker James Beattie could be on his way to the City Ground this summer. Forest face competition from WBA for his signature and have yet to agree a fee with the Potters, but the player is in favour of a move to Forest, after a fall out with manager Tony Pulis.

Swansea City's Darren Pratley is probably the worst kept transfer secret of the summer for Forest supporters, but the club are hopeful of landing their number one target before the pre season preparations get underway. Cardiff City winger Peter Whittingham (again) is also a target, but he's another player we will face competition for, if we want to see him at the City Ground next season.

There's no confirmation of any new signings as yet, but the rumour mill is just gathering momentum, so it shouldn't be too long now. Enjoy the summer folks. It's gonna be a good 'un!

I like that his middle name sounds like vagina

Why have they made this public knowledge? It's not been picked up by the media so how does it help forest to publicise our targets? He'll probably be linked with another club by the end of the week.

I worked that one out from the hints on here from onlythetruth, as above though, better to keep names off the forum until something concrete happens though IMO.

a young john arne risse?

Its probably pronounced vag-eh.

Not that I want to spoil the "one decent vagina" or "feed the vagina and he'll score" chants.

Can you imagine if he picks up an injury, and is withdrawn from the side? "The vag is out"

The vag, the vag, the vag is on fire!

At least now they are refraining from sensationalizing the rumour... We'll see what happens

Hmmm, this might actually be an interesting acquisition! I have hardly seen him play at all, but he is held in very high regard in his club. Better on the offense than he is defensive.

Det er stor at jeg lærte Nordmann på skole. Jeg kan forbinde i din samtale. Er Winnits ikke råtten dritt ?

You seen much of him play?

Not really, as I don't follow Haugesund that closely. They got promoted last year, but they're doing quite well compared to the other two promoted teams. Playing some good stuff! Våge Nilsen has been on the "team of the week" on a couple of occasions, even in a game they lost 4-1. He has a lot of heart, and puts in a decent cross.

Some of the "top clubs" over here have shown their interest in him, but I can only see Rosenborg as the team who could afford him at the moment, since he signed a three year contract earlier this year. (They probably knew that he would soon be on the way, so they want some money for him)

Will make sure to watch the Haugesund game next round though.

BTW!
My brother (Leeds fan) who follows Norwegian football closely talked about him a week ago, about how dirty Leeds should sign him up...! For what it's worth, it's a good sign! :)

I am from Haugesund, and i have followed Nilsen for a long time. I have even played against him several times some years ago. Nilsen or "jokke" as we call him is propably the biggest talent ever in Haugesund football if we take away Nordtveit who now is in Arsenal. I think i have seen every game Nilsen have played for Haugesund. He started playing on the first team last season when Haugesund was in the 1. division. The progress have been absolutely great. Before he was real good in the attack, but this year he have been much better at the defense. He is not very fast, but take much of this again on his positioning. This season he have been on "the team of the week" 4 times in the biggest paper in Norway. That is most off all the players so far.

If you want him he will not be cheap. Norwegian players are very expencive this days, and to be honnest: I don't think you will get him either. ;)
